Great no frills Bluray player
I originally hesitated ordering this player because of some of the bad reviews, but buying refurbished is definitely the way to go. It's been a few months now and i have had no major issues, only minor complaints. The most obvious flaw is the build quality....not a deal breaker, but just something to be aware of. For instance, as others have stated, the disc tray is a bit flimsy but works fine. Another thing i noticed is how it handles scratched discs. Instead of skipping, the screen will go black when it has trouble reading the disc, but it will read some pretty scratched up discs. These issues are nit picking, but someone may find it useful to know. The really good thing is how well this player works! Boot up is really fast as well as initial disc read time. Picture quality is second to none, as well as audio quality. Really so many good qualities about this player to list so if your on the fence, just buy it, you won't regret it.

Good value. I just hope it lasts!
EDIT: I returned this player for two reasons. First, after I plugged this unit into the power outlet, the Cable Modem I had plugged in on the same circuit started randomly rebooting!!!! Took me a while to figure out this player was somehow causing that! I don't know how this player, even when powered off could cause some kind of electrical interference that would cause a cable modem to reboot!?!? But after unplugging this player, the cable modem stopped rebooting! RETURNED!!!Also, while watching a disk, the TV screen would go black randomly for a couple of seconds. It did not happen a lot, but maybe a couple of times each disk.Too bad - otherwise I would have kept this.------------------------------------------------------------------------------I needed to replace a 10 year old Sony blue-ray player that was on its last legs. Was going to buy another Sony, but all their models reviews seemed to state that they freeze and need to be unplugged which was what my old unit did a lot too. So I figured I would get a Samsung to match my TV.Overall, I think this is a good value. I just hope it lasts!I was leery of a refurb as I only had purchased one other Amazon refurb in the past which worked out great. For me, the unit came in the factory box, and the packaging was professional with everything sealed in plastic. The remote looked brand new, and came with a new battery and a new HDMI cord. The unit itself had scratches on the top like it was in an AV stack.Pros:* When playing a regular DVD, the upscale worked really great.* Easy setup.* Works great with a Samsung TV Smart Controller.* Full feature set, and has some features that others are missing.Cons:* When playing a Bluray disk, the upscale was not as good as I expected. Pretty much looked like standard 1080P to me.* No front display anymore. Seems like all the manufacturers have gotten away from a front display for some reason.* When you power off the unit and power it back on, the disk starts from the beginning and not where you left off. VERY ANNOYING! You have to search for where you left off.

Excellent device!
When I set this up, I was a bit hesitant about setting it up to connect to my wireless network, but I did and I'm glad I did. I found it can connect to my NAS and play the movies there. Plays 4K discs, blu-ray and DVDs flawlessly. Great product!

Really good value. Some feature missing
I was nervous buying refurbished but the unit is working perfectly. It talks to my Samsung 4K TV which is interesting. If i use the 4k player remote to raise the volume there is a delay because apparently the player remote tells the unit to raise the volume which tells the tv to raise the volume, the tv tells the tv remote to raise the volume and my tv remote tells the Vizio sound bar to get louder!.. 1-2 second delay. Weird but I find it fascinating. The picture on the blu-ray discs is outstanding. This is my first experience with blu-ray. I have not tried a 4k disc yet. Some features from my old DVD player are MISSING on this unit which I find surprising. I really miss being able to1= play with sound at 1.3x speed. I do (did) that a lot for movies that I didn't love or if I was short of time.2= my old dvd could play 2x speed and still displayed the subtitiles. I did that if I didn't like the movie and just wanted to see what happened or if I was in a hurry.3= programmable skip search. ie. I could set a button to skip ahead a certain amount of time like one minute...Other negatives on this unit are:the fast forward is hard to activate and I often chapter skip by accidentthe power light can't be seen unless you are above the unit. It's just a little red/blue light. No other display. Did I turn it off...?Remote is small and awkwardPositives:Communicates well with the same brand TVFast forward is lightening fast as is reversePicture in Blu-ray is very niceI think it makes my old DVDs look bettervery quietloads fastI am happy with this but the negative are annoying

amazing picture and sound-definately worth the money
though i just got it (refurbished) it is great. the picture and sound are amazing. even though i don't have any 4k blu-ray movies yet, i can only imagine how much better it will play with a 4k disc. the buttons on the unit itself r so sensitive you barely have to touch them and they respond. and even though i dont have a samsung tv, the second the unit is powered on, it switches my tv input to the blu-ray player. it doesnt switch it back when the unit is powered off though. also, the users manual was not in the box, probably because it was refurbished. amazon was very quick to email the manual to me. instanly. and the remote is so tiny its hard to hit the right button
