Shameless: The Complete Sixth Season [Blu-ray]

The sixth season of the show saw much of the same and in some ways different dysfunction from the Gallagher clan. The season sees more adult storylines for Deb and Carl, with both of them hitting bottom in their own ways. Carl, after coming out of juvie steeped in the gang culture, and Deb on the heels of her positive pregnancy test after lying to her boyfriend about being on the pill. Lip's life at college goes haywire as his affair with his professor is ongoing, and he is trying to balance that with his time as a TA in physics working for a professor who has a drinking problem that rivals that of Frank. Frank continues to be generally horrible throughout the season, which leads to a reckoning with the family by the end of the season. We also get to meet another of Frank's old flames, Sammi's mother played by Twin Peaks alum, Sherrilyn Fenn. Fiona and Ian see more stability in their lives with Fiona working at the diner and dating Sean, and Ian working toward becoming a firefighter. Thankfully the show has given storylines for Kevin and V separate from that of just being the Gallagher's neighbors, and they continue to have probably the best, and most complicated relationship on the show.Overall, the show continues to be well-written and acted. There is, as always, a lot of adult themes including sex, drug use, and violence. All of the actors, including the younger ones, do a great job with their characters, and the show continues to develop the characters well as the show has progressed. The show also does a great job of mixing drama and dark comedy, and there are a lot of points where you bust out laughing but feel kind of bad about doing so.For those who get the blu-ray set, the episodes and bonus material are spread across two discs. The extras include deleted scenes (about 35 minutes worth), a feature that follows Shinola Hampton around for a day, a round of pool with William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, and two of the show's writers as they discuss the characters and the show in general. A decent amount, but not as much as in the releases for the first couple of seasons. By now, anyone reading this review will know what the show is and is not. There is more cast turnover this year, with Noel Fisher being essentially written out of the show after Mickey was arrested at the end of the prior season. But, unless you were only watching the show for one of the characters that have left the show, if you liked the prior seasons you will probably like this one. Conversely, if you have not liked the prior seasons, there is probably nothing about this one that will convert you.

This is more than about one family. The people and places may seem to be not real life, but everything which happens has and does occur. This season the family goes through heartache about their home. A son returning from jail. A son fighting for his rights. A daughter trying to grow up and find love. Amazing they still love each other. This is a great series and well worth watching.

Just finished the sixth season and already going thru withdrawal symptoms! Ordered and watched every season so far and number six is right up there with the best of them. If you have never watched any of these Shameless seasons or episodes, fair warning! The title says it all. You will not believe (at first) how any dysfunctional family can possibly exist. But, hey! This is South Chicago!

Dysfunction at its broadcast best. The series continues to stay top notch after being on a number of season. Nothing shocks me anymore. Go in expecting stupid behavior with an occasional glimmer of normalcy. The cast is strong and This is Bill Macy at his best. It is a serial so watch the seasons in order.

So Love this Showtime series, that I been purchasing the whole Set. In this season Debbie whats to be a Mommy so bad., While Fiona struggles to keep there house. There are all 12 episode in this season. A Very Nice way to spend a Saturday

Been watching the show from season one, can't get enough of it! It is one of my favorites. Definitely not appropriate for any younger children or possibly even teenagers, in my opinion! The show always keeps me guessing and on my toes, which is a pleasant change, as so many shows are predictable. I am definitely a loyal fan!

Gritty and full of real life the actors play their parts quite well and I often forget I'm watching drama instead of evesdropping on the family nextdoor.

One of the best shows I've ever watched.The emotions are always high in every single episode.

Shameless USA seasons 1-5 were quite good, but I didn't like the sixth season, because it's just drama for drama's sake, that just turns into a frustrating pile of what people call "poverty porn", what with everybody fighting and arguing, and for what. Debbie screaming at Fiona. Fiona screaming at Debbie in return. Fiona duking it out with ex-fella. Ex fella is pissed about missing engagement ring, then hires lawyer. Frank comes in and screws everybody over once more. No one seems to have learned anything at all. Oh, it's so tiring, and not even good. One punch up after another. They should just have stopped it at season five while they were on a high. It was a good retooling of a british telly drama, up to certain point, but I feel that this particular series has run it's course, and neither did I like season 7, it really has dragged on too long and suffered as a result. At the beginning it had a real spark, which has sadly fizzled out.

This series continues to entertain. So much better than the British original.
