Fantastic suit to aid teaching young ones on the basics of swimming
This product is perfect for teaching my 25 month old how to hold correct body position, and move in a basic manner in our pool. I read many reviews before buying but it seems people do not understand how this suit is meant to work. It is not a suit designed for life saving nor will it hold a youngster in the water the right way up IF they are not aware of how to hold their bodies in the water which means parental effort. It is NOT a dangerous item, but you have a duty of care to research what this is for..... go to the splashabout website directly or watch some videos on youtube!Previously i bought a mothercare float suit but the gusset to float measure was too long and the floats would ride up under her chin. Her torso measurement matched to this float suit means the floats are in the perfect position around her belly and lower chest, but it did mean that we had to hold the back of the suit in the beginning and reinforce by touch for her to keep her legs beneath. This is important to stop her from rolling to her front face down, something that we were anticipating. This is not altogether a bad thing because you can teach them to roll to their back as a lifesaving measure, just so long as they know to spit the water out thier mouths first and not try to retain it.... work in progress for us! So we are trying not to let her roll forwards just yet.She had been using the other float suit, which was not ideal, for 1 month. Today, and only after two uses, constant reinforcement that legs go beneath her, she understands how to hold her position and kick her legs in a primitive treading water style. She even managed to kick and move herself 1.5m unaided to hold onto the side of the pool.Do not let go of your child too soon, once they get the confidence themselves they will be pushing you away to try it alone, but you must be there to correct thier position as they potentially roll forward or sideways, especially when they get tired from all the excitement of "look! I can do it!!".I love the zip down the back, this makes it much easier to get on and off compared to the mothercare one, and the fact there are 16 floats (compared to 8 in the other) means much more flexibility to adjust degree of flotation as she gets more confident. The material is great quality and hasn't stretched with use so far. I have had a number of splashabout products in the past, and have always been happy with them and this is no exception. Highly recommended!

Recommended by this mummy
This has been our best purchase for our little boy. He has always loved swimming and hated us needing to hold him up. This has given him the ability to have our minimal input and has since learnt to swim independently with this suites help. We are using all floats for out 1 ½ year old but can take half or all the float out on each column when he gets stronger. The zip at the back makes it easier to get him in the suit. Could have done with a bigger size but my son is big compared to most cloth sizes.

Better than the vest
Initially I thought the vest would be a much better solution for our 1.5 year old. As it turned out, the vest didn't work. It looked ridiculous and clearly would be uncomfortable in the pool. So I tried this floatsuit and both my child and me are happy with it. The floats around the waist don't ride up (as it would be with the vest, I'm sure). Additionally, as they are arranged in 2 tiers, it's easy to adjust the buoyancy by removing some of them. It's a bit of a challenge to put on, I found it's better to put it on without the floats, and then insert them afterwards. The same goes for taking it off - remove the floats first. Also, it's easier to take it off while still in the pool. I recommend you get a bigger size. I bought 2-4 for my 1.5 year old (tall, 13-14kg) and it's pretty tight already. My toddler is a lot more confident around the pool and even tries to swim "properly" in it. All I wanted is to make sure wouldn't go down like a rock and also to make it easier for me to handle him in water (when teaching him to swim etc).

Check measurements!
Sizing is a little odd. I bought 2-4yrs for my 2yr old and it was too tight and pulling on her shoulders. Sent back and got next size up which seems insane for a little 2yr old!

Great Cozie.
Really good as a bit of extra help when swimming with our 18 month old daughter. It's nothing like a swim ring it's just a bit of extra help with bouancy.

Great idea
This is brilliant. Took my 2 year old all of about half hour to get used to it rather than arm bands and now she's off. Allows her to be fairly independent and confident in the water. Great idea.

Our child swam unaided by the time she turned three
We bought this quite a while ago but only write a review now. This swim suit has been amazing. We’ve taken the floats out two by two and slowly but surely built our child’s confidence in water. When she turned three, she could swim for three meters unaided, ie no floats left in the suit and no arm bands or other flotation aids. She is now four years old, has outgrown this suit, and swims nearly ten meters unaided. Never had a lesson, just a determined daddy who trusted her ability

beginners
A good way to feel confident in the sea or a pool. The sizing is correct. A great idea is that you can gradually take the floats away once the child feels more confident. Overall, happy with the purchase.
