Coming from a smooth bottom stainless bowl. To one of these, this produces an awesome lather within 15 seconds. And it retains heat well! Definitely a great buy for around 10 bucks

If you want to save soap and save time, this bowl is great for that. I used to always face lather, but decided to try for a bowl lather. This bowl is inexpensive and dries quickly after use (I dry it upside down in the sink), and it helps whip up fantastic lather for multiple passes. I used to use a non textured bowl for lathering, and while it did the job, this one easily surpasses a non textured bowl. Give it a shot, it's great. The only thing that could make this bowl better is if it was slightly wider and deeper, but it's great as is.

Well made ceramic bowl is thick enough to withstand some abuse but light enough to hold. The ceramic is not glazed on the inside with a mild texture pattern that is just enough to help with lathering but not so aggressive as to wear out a brush. If it were a bit smaller it would be perfect but as is it is a great option for a lather bowl.

I threw away my electric razor four years ago, in favor of a razor with multi-blade cartridges, and recently stepped up to a double-edge safety razor. Wanted to graduate to proper shaving soap at the same time and get rid of the canned shaving cream. Glad I made the change! And this bowl really works. It whips up thick, slick foam quickly and easily, and it's BIG (quite a bit bigger across than a shaving mug - just over 5" across). It's actually easy to make too much foam. Because it's ceramic and not plastic, it stays hot much longer.

The ridges inside allow you to generate a nice lather within a few seconds. Of course the soap or cream you use makes a difference in the quality of your lather but this bowl works great regardless. A nice thing about ceramic bowls is that they are heavy enough to put your brush in it while shaving and the bowl will stay put. (The spout makes for a nice brush rest). I have a small copper bowl and it was so light I couldn’t rest my brush in it without it tipping over.

Nice heft to it and the grooves helps lather a little bit. Though I wish the grooves were slightly more aggressive to really help assist with lather. Also under wet conditions it may be found difficult to purchase a confident grip on the bowl. Other than that it works as it is intended
