It is great! Even better when you know a few things...
It doesn't come with instructions, but most of what you need to know is right on the listing. Once switched on, it only works when the sensor sees light, and immediately quits when dark again. It does have 8mb of memory and acts like a flash drive when you plug it into the computer (using the included cable). After you delete the pre-installed sample song, you can put any amount of songs up to 8mb. COMPRESS YOUR FILES if you want to put on multiple songs! (You can do that by ripping them again to lower quality, or going online to sites that do it free with a quick upload, compression, then download.) The speaker is okay (better than the kind in musical greeting cards, but nothing fancy), and lower quality mp3 files will be sufficient. I put four songs on mine and it works great. I had to play around to figure out how to play the songs in a particular order-- You need to RENAME the entire file title to "1", "2", etc. if you want them to play in that order. Any other effort with using lead numbers, or multiple letters, or anything else doesn't work for this. Once I just made them "1" ,"2", "3", "4", my songs played in exactly that order. It will ALWAYS restart at #1 song after it goes dark and back to light. But it only plays through your song(s) one time and stops until you reset it (dark, then light again). The on/off switch is labeled, but the volume is not; it's just a tiny slider near the one battery on the opposite side of the panel from the on/off & micro usb port. All-in-all, this little thing is pretty nifty, does well considering its size, and worth the money. I got this one to put inside of a gift box and it will play when the gift is opened. It has adhesive on the back so it can be stuck easily inside. Except for fussing around with the song order thing, it took about one minute to delete their file and transfer mine. Very easy to use! Your PC will automatically install the driver, so there's little to do. Thumbs up!

Pretty good. Get the updated version for better playback options though.
This is actually really easy to use, and works. The instructions are online, so make sure to scan the QR code in the package. You just have to charge it and make sure to turn it on before you use it. And it WILL NOT playback when it's plugged in. It has to be unplugged, charged, and set to on. The on slider is easy to miss. BUT The older version will play multiple files, but it plays ALL THE FILES sequentially with one press of the button, and stops at the next press. Get the "updated" version that specifically has different playback modes if you want more control over how the playback happens.

THIS THING JUST ISN'T WORTH THE HEADACHE! Only buy it if you are fairly tech-savvy (i.e., enough to understand this review).
I bought this because this was the only reasonably-priced audio device of this type that was available for Prime delivery. I should have read more of the reviews, because it does not include any instructions whatsoever, it requires a specific USB cable to connect to a computer in order to load an audio file onto it (I originally thought it was something where you could push a button on the device and just record onto it), it does not include the power source (i.e., no battery), and it is ambiguously triggered (the descriptions don't make a lot of sense to me because they aren't written very well). Customers shouldn't have to rely on other customers' questions to get important product information-- The seller should either write the descriptions out better or should get someone else to write this information out for them. NOTE: I ended-up making this work by powering this with a portable power bank-- I got one at Wal-Mart that had a micro-USB cable included. It cost under $10 there, but for all of the trouble this put me through, and how bulky the final set-up ended-up being, I'd say you might be better off just buying a more expensive audio player with the power source and instructions already included. The other thing I found out was that there was a track that came with the device, which kept playing after my audio file would finish playing; to fix this, I had to plug it into a Windows PC (my Mac wouldn't work) to reformat the entire thing so that it would clear all the way to it's default settings. The only "pro" about this thing is that, when rigged-up correctly, other reviewers are accurate when they say that the speaker is loud and has good sound.

Good quality and easy to use
I'm happy with the product--worked out great in my homemade music box. The sound and storage capabilities are pretty good for being such a small device. It was easy to use and upload the songs I wanted once I figured out that I needed to turn on the power switch to connect to my computer.

Handy board with a bad speaker, though that's easy to fix (see details). Recommended
I got the ICStation Recordable Sound Module (8MB) for a small project. I was asked to make a small box with a button that triggers a sound, and that led me to this item. The ICStation board is kind of an all-in-one solution, right? Well, the board arrived without any issues. The LIR2032 batteries arrived with some juice already in them. I hooked the board to a Win10 PC, and copied in my file (and deleted the one that it shipped with). To use the board, you slide the power switch to "on" and press the button. There's a small surface-mounted volume slider. The included speaker is not great... it's about on par with the transducers that they put in greeting cards. For my project, I got rid of the momentary switch and the speaker, replacing it with a 3" full-range unit (pictured). I decided to remote the micro-USB too, using a panel mount port that's connected to a cable. The only part that's tougher to remote is the power slider switch. The power switch is surface-mounted, so I just left the switch in place (in the OFF position) and soldered in leads for another, non-momentary switch. Overall, that results in something that sounds a lot better, and is easier to mount permanently inside an enclosure. Unfortunately, the PCB only has two small holes for mounting, but they aren't something you can use standoffs with. As far as the core board goes, it's pretty amazing what you get for about $15. The batteries alone seem like something that you'd spend a few bucks on. Out of the box, the board does what it says it will. Put a better speaker on it, and you will have something that sounds decent, too. As far as the other stuff I did, with the USB relocation and other switches, it's just good for you to know that it can be done. Recommended

Great sound from a small device!
Just received my light sensor sound module. I connected it to my PC using the provided cable and downloaded my MP3 files. Then tested out the light sensing switch and this little device worked perfectly. It was ready to use in my craft project within 5 minutes of taking it out of the package. One added feature that I didn't notice in the instructions is that you can add multiple MP3 files. So, if you want to put a personal message in one MP3 file, then perhaps a full length song in another MP3 file, it will play them consecutively. When the light activating switch is exposed to light, the device will start playing the MP3 files from the start of the track. Once the switch is back in darkness (no light), the device stops playing. When exposed to light again, it will start playing the MP3 files from the beginning again. Exactly what I wanted. I could use this device in dozens of other craft applications if it had a setting that it would play the MP3 files at random. That way I could load it with lots of MP3 sound clips and everytime my craft project was "opened" it would play a different cool sound effect. But I am very satisfied with this device as it has high quality sound and works exactly as described. I already purchased several more of these cool devices.

Product is great. Delivery not so good.
Product is great. Works as advertised. However, when I received the delivery notice and the photo of the very light weight package on my porch I went to get it and it wasn't there. Since we had 25 to 30 MPH winds blowing at the time of delivery I went looking for it and found it on the empty lot next door heading toward the water. A little consideration for the weather conditions on the part of the delivery staff would help. Just a thought.
