Cashel Crusader Horse Fly Mask with Ears

Have used this fly mask for years. Because: the eyes are wide across, and do not rub the eyeball. He sleeps in it too. The ears keep the no see ums biters out. It's a warmblood size, so I trim the Velcro to fit his face better.Also like that his eyes are looking through uv material, light gray, and my sense is if I looked through plaid sun glass lenses, it would probably suck.Have washed them, stuck them in the dryer for 3 minutes to soften mesh, then hang them so they finish drying with the eye shape keeps its shape.Also have the black quiet ride mask. Holds up great.Cons: because his wide eyeset requires a size larger, have about 20 that are used for repair parts if another horse pulls it off, stomps on it etc.

I have been buying this fly mask for several years and have at the moment 2 previous iterations of this mask. There have been some subtle changes for the better. The area around the eye stands farther off from the face than it has in the past. This means that there is less possibility of interfering with eyelashes or worse, eyes. The length of the hook and loop fastener has also been modified. It is not as long as it was two years ago. For me this is a plus as I neither had to cut it off nor fold it over. This makes it easier for the barn help to get the mask on and fitting well as they turn the horses out in the morning.

Material is soft. Sizing seemed right for my warm blood mare. Her ears are on the large size and they fit within the warm blood size with ears style I purchased. My first experience with a fly mask for longer turnout. Brand was recommended by the barn managers who has over 30 horses on all day or overnight turnout in small groups. In use about a month now for my mare. She had never used a fly mask before and she accepted it without any reaction.

My horse has a big head so the horse size mask is a bit small, and the warm blood size is a bit big but fits her better around her head. The ears are too big so they flop over, but it gets the job done. My mare has gotten it off once in the pasture, but that was with the horse size. Hasn’t been able to get the warm blood size off.

Fits well and stays on. I like that there is an opening to pull the forelock through.

Well made, holds up well to full-time use. I ordered the Warmblood size for my Dutch gelding and it is a bit short down the nose but overall a good fly mask. The double Velcro throat latch keeps it securely in place.

Love this fly mask. I have a Gypsy Vanner so finding a mask that fits is hard. This one is perfect for her and she can’t easily get it off. Protecting her ears from fly bites makes her a happy girl.
