These brushes would make a nice starter set for a teenager. This set contains 12 pieces, which would be everything that a teen would need.These brushes are not all just soft brushes like lower quality brush sets offer. The manufacturer tried to make the bristles appropriate for each type of brush. The eyeliner brush, lip defining brush, eye smudger brush, and eyeshadow brush all have stiffer bristles. The spoolie and eyelash comb also are made of different materials acceptable for their purposes..These brushes have synthetic bristles with wooden enameled handles. In between the brush and the handle is a silver-colored aluminum ferrule. The handles vary in length from 6 5/8" on the bronzer brush to 4 7/8" on the eye smudger brush.While these brushes may not be the expensive investment brushes that women like as they mature, they are certainly a good set for a young gal just experimenting with makeup to see which types of brushes are her favorites. The brushes seem nicely made. I did not notice any loose bristles.With the holidays coming up, I think this would be a great and welcome gift for any young gal who is just becoming interested in makeup. Considering the economical price of this brush set, I think it is a fairly nice set for what is offered. I would give this product a rating somewhere between 3 and 4 stars...so 3.5 stars rounded up would be 4 stars from me!

Pure Beauty Works 12pc Complete Makeup Brush SetThis set of 12 makeup brushes is okay and they are about $1.25 each, but not much d better than what you could ever buy at a dollar store. I have cheap (elf, wet and wild, Revlon) and expensive brushes (Mac, Trish McEvoy, and one from Shu Umera that I hate to think about how much I spent on it), and this rates somewhere in the middle and aren't the best. These would be fine for a beginner.These handles are a standard size of about 6 inches and that makes them perfect for travel. Also, I don't have to worry if I lose them since they are cheap to replace. Be sure to wash these in cold water and gentle soap before using them. I usually reshape the bristles and lay them flat to dry. Don't dry them standing up because that will cause the glue to fail. These didn't shed that much but they did have a slight smell but that quickly dissipated once they were taken out of the package. The plastic case for storage is pretty worthless and feels really cheap but it does keep them organized since there are slots for each brush.

I'm thrilled with my new brush set. I like that this set comes with a huge variety of brushes and that they seem well made. No loose bristles on these. The brushes are lightweight and comfortable to hold, the handles aren't super long or so short that the brushes will disappear into the depths of my brush container.

I have found that synthetic brushes are easier to clean and don't absorb as much product. I got these brushes for my 13 year old daughter who likes to practice with makeup for her cosplay outfits. She likes the huge variety of brushes and they are adequate for her needs and she likes how well they work.

This brush set is really nice. The quality is good. It contains a lot of varieties of brushes. The thing that I like the most is that the bristles are 100% synthetic. That was one of my biggest concerns, because it seems like most of the makeup brushes are made from some kind of animal hair, but these aren’t, which is great!
