The packaging doesn't read 100% nylon, but it's shiny and feels like nylon. The cord itself is round in shape and feels full. It's very nice cord for crafts.

Exactly .5cm so just under 1/4". I wouldn't jump out of an airplane with it, but it's perfect for crafting. Hope this helps.
