Nutricost Glycine Powder 1lb - Non-GMO, Gluten Free

I’m pleased with this glycine powder. Previously I had tried capsules but they were 500mg each and from my research it seems like the minimum effective dose for this stuff is around 3 grams. 6 capsules are tough to swallow, literally and figuratively, and the fillers made them a bit annoying to add to water. Some of the more ‘premium’ supplement brands seem to WAY overcharge for this stuff. This is a loose crystalline powder, almost like table sugar but not quite as sweet. It dissolves super easily and stays in solution, I’ve been adding a scoop or two to plain hot water about an hour before bed and it makes for a nice subtly sweet tea. Sometimes I’ll add chamomile but honestly just having it plain is nice. I think of Nutricost as a pretty reputable commodity supplement brand, so for something like Glycine that’s easy/cheap to produce and shelf-stable I trust that what I’m getting is what’s on the tub. There’s not much of a financial incentive for them to try to counterfeit - nothing against Nutricost, I just am forever wary of supplement companies. I do feel like it ‘works’, though it could just be a placebo. My sleep has felt deeper, I absolutely do not wake up in the night when I take this unless I desperately have to go to the bathroom (honestly I’ve been slightly worried I might wet the bed lol). Long term benefits for longevity/joint health are pretty much impossible for me to detect so I’m not even trying, but the literature is convincing enough for me. Plus it’s just an amino acid so I don’t worry too much about overdoing it. It’s a ton of product for a solid price and seems effective and authentic, so I recommend!

The Science behind this Amino Acid is amazing! From better/more restful sleep, to anti-inflammatory to longevity! I take 6 grams/day. 3 with my daily smoothie & 3 grams 30 mins to 1 hour before bed. Love it! By the way, it doesn't taste nasty at all. Very sweet! The Nutricost brand is a good value & is 3rd. party tested!

I bought this (Glycine) hearing about it on the web. I was skeptical, but the product seemed safe to use daily and inexpensive. This is my second week using it and thus far it has been very effective. It definitely helps me fall asleep quicker, sleep more soundly and get a bit more out of those +/- 7hrs. I track my sleep via a fitbit and judging by those numbers I seem to gain 30-45mins of extra sleep with 10-20 of those being allocated to deep sleep and/or REM. Weekly, that's an extra 4.5hrs. of sleep with roughly 50 mins of deep sleep and REM each. If you can also manage to go to bed half an hour earlier (not a huge sacrifice), that's like adding an hour, hour fifteen of sleep daily. I mix it with 5-6oz of water and it dissolves fairly easily. As others have mentioned, it basically tastes like sugar water so the flavor is very tolerable.

I purchased this supplement to help with my sleep. I can tell it has a noticeable calming affect and I feel that it helps me sleep deeper. However, the taste is weird and kind of hard to drink. It does not dissolve well in water and requires a lot of stirring. But I imagine this would be true of any glycine supplement.

I hardly write a review but this one I think I really have to. It is a good product I’ve used some other supplement from this brand. And it worked for the reason why I bought it. BUT my boy reacted differently to this product. I’ve have this for 15 days now. The first 5 days, I took 1.5 grams in the morning and 1.5 grams 1 hr before going to bed. On the 1st night I sleep through the night , I can tell it’s a deep sleep. I woke up not feeling groggy or tired. But on the 3rd day I noticed I feel blah as in flat. No motivation, kinda depressed and the worst thing I feel very calm to the point that I cannot feel anything. I mean not happy not sad no sympathy or apathy nothing. I cannot think what I want to do. Then I stopped taking it for 5 days. When I started taking it again, I just took it 1.5 grams before bed just to see how my body will react, the same thing happen I sleep well to the point that finally I slept for 8 hrs. But I started feeling depressed again and can’t think . At this point I decided that my body doesn’t react well to this. I’m sad because this help with my sleep and my knee doesn’t hurt when I take this. But the reaction it give to my emotional being is very bad I cannot continue taking this product.

One scoop of this paired with Magnesium Glycinate has been a game changer with my autistic son. His agitation has significantly decreased, he is much calmer and overall in a better mood. If you have neurodivergent individuals in your family, consider this product. I will be purchasing this product again.

Clean, versatile, and excellent value! Our favorite brand along with Life Extension. This glycine powder is very fine, dissolves easily, and has a mild, slightly sweet taste. It’s easy to mix into water or other drinks. I like that it’s unflavored and free from unnecessary additives. The large container makes it very cost-effective for daily use. Great option if you want a simple, high-quality glycine supplement.
