Embellished Bras: Basic Techniques

I ordered this book because it was highly recommended, and deservedly so! This $22.00 investment, and about $25.0 worth of embellishments, will give me a dance bra that would have cost at least $150.00. Also, I can use it again and again!

I started belly dancing a year ago and my neice followed a few months after me. I wanted to learn to make the costumes and I became frustrated with the lack of information I was able to find. Being a intermediate seamstress, I decided to wing it and make my neice a costume for her christmas present, thinking I will learn as I go. When I was almost done with her bra, I came across this book. I bought it and when I went through it, I found out that I wasn't far off from the techniques I was using, trying and helped me with aspects I wans't sure about.This book is really good for beginning belly dancers who are wanting to make their own costumes. The bra, which is the most important piece, sets the setting for the rest of the costume, then the belt follows the bras design. The books is really good for those who are beginner sewers and need visuals to help them understand the instructions.

I do enjoy the information I received from this book. The biggest down-side to it was the black and white pictures and some what dated information about base bras etc. Should their be a revision/ new edition I would gladly purchase. Great tool to use in conjunction with online tutorials and current trending techniques; the resource page inside the book was also immensely helpful.Seller was honest and would buy from them again.

This is an excellent book on the different bra types for belly dancing, and how to make them step-by-step. It covers everything on the subject! Even how to make a bra so strong as to survive anything short of nuclear war, for the professional who will use her bra every night! I love this book!

I bought this book to help me and my mom understand better how to create beautiful embellished bras,This book has given both of us a comprehensive view and understanding on how to create beautiful pieces!! A well written easy to follow book . Directions are clear and photographs and illustrations are beautiful and well made. Overall a great buy!!

This is a handy guide to have if you are into costuming. Although this book is primarily aimed at belly dancers anyone can benefit from the techniques and styles offered in the book. It is a light manual with black and white pics that are easy to follow and understand. I have done costumes and use this book as a reference.

This is more of a booklet than a book, otherwise I'd probably give it 5 stars. It's very, very short. That said, I could find nothing else like it on the market. The instructions are clear and there are plenty of pictures.

Really nice little book!It is NOT a book about bra making - if you're looking to learn how to do that part, this is not the book for you. It is focused on taking existing bras and transforming them into a spectacular costume piece, with great advice and lots of good ideas to get your started.On the downside: I kind of want it to be bigger, and a book that is about embellishing stage costumes - flashy, colourful things by nature - would be better in colour (or partly in colour) in my opinion. It doesn't ultimately detract from the information given, but personally I would have liked to see some of the examples in full colour!

This book has a wealth of good ideas and advice but does assume some sewing skills. I found it most useful for giving inspiration and for advising what styles suit which body shapes. It is a great reference book for when you have an idea but need a bit of guidance as to how to achieve it. I have two other books in the series- there is some overlap but it is still a good book for the reference shelf.

I was very disappointed by the quality of this book. It was quite a thin book, but the main problem was the illustrations. The cover shows beautiful colour pictures, but all the photographs inside are black and white. I bought this as a gift, but returned it because it looked like a cheap book. It's certainly not worth the price being asked.

Great for beignets and the more experienced seamstress too

Si no tienes ni idea ni sabes por donde comenzar no está mal pero esperaba algo más. Las fotos son en blanco y negro. Lo peor para mi ha sido que casi no hay explicaciones de como fundir los tirantes laterales de la espalda con las copas de forma pulida y eso es fundamental para un buen acabado.
