The most practical and effective Christian parenting book
I have read SO MANY CHRISTIAN PARENTING BOOKS in my short 10 years of parenting. This is ABOVE AND BEYOND any of the other books I have read. The author is so incredibly practical that you can totally relate to him and his family - but also have incredible practical tools to adopt his “habits” into your own. I love how the book is broken down into sections (work, screentime, meals, etc!) because it makes it an easy book to read, but also study with others. I listened on audiobook first, and loved the book so much I bought a physical copy for my husband to read. I wish every Christian parent had this book in their resource library because we can truly change the world and the trajectory of the next generation if we adopt these “habits of the household!” 10/10 recommend!!!!

Such an insightful tool!
My wife and I are new parents, and we recently got this book because we wanted to avoid falling into bad parenting habits. From the start, we were hooked by the author’s sarcastic yet insightful tone, which adds a refreshing touch to the advice. The writing is clear, relatable, and easy to follow, making it accessible even when we're exhausted from sleepless nights. What really stood out to us were the practical, actionable steps he provides for changing habits and creating a home environment that encourages spiritual growth. The advice feels both doable and meaningful, which is a rare combination. I highly recommend this book to current parents, as well as couples who are thinking about starting a family—it’s a game changer!

every Christian parent needs this
Such a wonderful and inspiring book. Hoping to implement several things into my own family. The changes are simple, but the impact could be life changing.

So many valuable lessons taken from this book and very well-written
This book is well-written, interesting, and most importantly actionable. The author is obviously very knowledgeable about scripture and its implications, and my family has definitely grown from using lessons from this book, even as a Catholic reading a non-denominational author. 10/10 recommend purchasing!

Accessible, relatable, and practical.
Habits of the Household feels like a step forward from The Common Rule, which I last read in 2022—though a lot has shifted since then: myself, my family, and the world. His writing is accessible, relatable, and practical, yet carries the understated finesse of a competent intellectual and artist who knows when to hold back. There's a thoughtful rhythm between intellect, emotion, and action throughout the book, which I found refreshing. Earley comes across less like a distant expert and more like a steady friend, gently saying, “God’s got us—let’s figure this out together. Here’s a few things to try.”

Read again and again
This is a book that you could read multiple times and keep getting new things from it. I like the way each chapter ends with a summary and key points. We've implemented many of these suggestions into our own family. I've recommended it to many of my friends. It would be a great book to use for a small group of families.
