It’s worth it!
The only bad experience so far was the delivery. I had this scheduled to be delivered on a Saturday and it started raining ten minutes before they called to let me know they were nearby. It was pouring! They covered my new $2600 sub with a loose sheet of plastic they had laying in the the truck—just draped on the top and the rain is coming down sideways. The whole time this is happening the truck door is open to the rain and the box is getting wet. Not only is the box wet, it’s got a big hole in it from being gouged by something. In fact the box is looking very beat up. Anyway, they cart it up the drive and into the garage where I’m waiting. “Don’t worry, it’s double boxed!” That’s what they said. I sign that it’s delivered and off they go soaking wet. After they leave I grab some towels and start drying the behemoth off. It’s soaked; the box is ripped and falling apart. I can see plastic wrapping through the holes so I’m hoping it’s ok. I get the box dragged through the garage and into the house alone...it’s only 175+lbs right? Oh yeah, it needs to go up a flight of stairs to the theater so take a break for a second...oh right, I’m alone on this part too. I get the box upstairs before it disintegrates and into the theater. After that, it pretty much unpacks itself thanks to being delivered in the rain. I’m a little annoyed at this point—I keep my boxes for speakers and gear and this one is destroyed. Good news though, even though it wasn’t double boxed, the plastic wrap kept it dry! Just a thought, but maybe the drivers could have waited ten minutes for the storm to blow over?! I set it up and played Attack if the Clones; the Jango asteroid chase...OMG! This mini-fridge-on-its-side-sub is a weapon of acoustic murder! It’s huge! Black, piano gloss! Sexy! When this thing starts pounding you might want to look out for Sandworms—mmmm, Shai Hulud!

My goal was 16Hz, and this fulfills! I love the metal grill!
This has clean and clear, distortion-free bass to the low C of a pipe organ (16Hz) and lower! That 2-star reviewer complaining about port noise has something wrong with his system. I have 4 of these, and they produce the cleanest, lowest bass I've ever experienced. Port noise is definitely not an issue. Before I got these, I toyed around with the idea of DIY with the Peerless Typhany 15" driver but there was no way I was going to make it look this good, which is also why I chose it over other brands like Rhythmik and JTR. Also, back then, Monoprice hadn't introduced their 16" sub yet but after the stories I've heard about their customer service, I'm glad I chose SVS. I've needed help from SVS, and they go above and beyond. Also, Monoprice doesn't have Bluetooth app control. The app is very useful because you can adjust a 3-band parametric EQ, and you can stack the bands too for extra boost. The only thing I wish was that the center frequency would go lower than 20 to maybe 16Hz at least. But for now it's ok because I have a parametric EQ that goes down to 10Hz. Which brings me to another point. You'll begin to chase 10Hz once you experience this, and to that I say, enough for now because I only have one song that goes that low (Curtain Shaker), and I'm ok with that compromise. But back to the app. I wish SVS would make it so that I can adjust 4 or more subs at the same time instead of having to switch from one to another. If I have to change the level, I have to go to each sub and adjust the level.Anyway, I really like this sub, and the only way I think it can be improved is if they offered an ultra low frequency version with a slightly larger enclosure with a lower port tuning so that it begins to roll off at something like 10Hz.Oh, and I just love the metal grill! I wish SVS would use them on all their subs. I'm beginning to see cloth grills on their newer models, which is unfortunate.

Great all around sub.
Great all around sub. Good with music, movies, and gaming. Very clear even at high volumes. I ordered a second one due to a dead spot right where i sit. One will work in most rooms. Worth every penny. Hard to get in the house with just one person. The packaging is top notch and allows you to roll the box end over end with no damage to the sub. The speaker is surrounded by 2" of quality foam all around. Enjoy!

The Platinum/Diamond Standard in Subwoofers, not for noobs
I upgraded from a pretty capable sub (good to 18Hz with 600W RMS power) and the PB-16 Ultra BLOWS its doors off; there is nothing that comes close. I was running with one port closed (extended mode, so it's 13Hz capable - I detect absolutely no distortion at any listening level, recently switched to sealed mode for better transient response, 14Hz capable with faster roll-off than extended mode, I'm sticking with sealed ... plenty deep extension AND best transient response. Sure, it's expensive, but this seller has discounted it to a compelling price level, so I didn't have to watch the SVS outlet store like a hawk on a sale day and get lucky. It is 150#, so if you need it on the second floor, you better have an elevator or two people to move it. The black ash finish matches my Klipsch Reference-II and Reference-III series like they were made in the same shop and the resulting sound is theater quality.

I bought this sub to replace a 15 inch Chewin-Vega sub that has broken down six times over the years. I also have a 15 inch home built 500watt ported sub that works great. I was anticipating still using two subs since the other sub was still working but, after setting this sub up the other sub was not needed. This sub is truly the best sub I've heard even for the cost. I have this in a large open great rm with cathedral ceiling so it can handle big rms. I would suggest using the eq setting if you like a lot of powerful base. This sub pulls a lot of power. I would suggest putting it on its own circute. It dims the lights that are on the same circute as the outlet it's plugged into.

Sounds good
Sounds great but I wouldn't pay 3000 thousand dollars again. It's overpriced in my opinion
