My dog has longterm damage to three discs in her back from an old injury. Occasionally, she overdoes it or tweaks her back and in the course of a couple weeks, goes from relatively normal (we don't let her run or jump anymore as they exacerbate her injury - she's a 12 yo pittie) to practically unable to walk, stumbling, knuckling, falling, etc. We have been through multiple rounds of rehabilitation/therapy/crate rest/chiropractors/neurologists/various vets/etc. What has helped her the most is to immediately upon signs of a bad regression is to wear this brace during waking hours (especially any time she's moving about) in conjunction with hydrotherapy. It was recommended to us by her vet and has been complimented by several specialists that have seen her for being high quality and holding her in the correct position. Without the brace, she can barely stand without losing her back end, but with the brace, she can move about and it helps her maintain a semi-normal stance with her back straight and her legs under her. Honestly, I think as a worrier by nature, I had a harder time adjusting to it than she did. It looks uncomfortable. It's stiff and the leg straps look like they squeeze between her back legs. Other than some sniffing/scratching/licking the first couple days and taking a few days to learn how to move/get up/lay down comfortably in it, she has actually adjusted to it just fine and lets me put it on and take it off with no issue. I think it makes her feel better and gives her some freedom. So, to anyone that's just gotten it and feels like maybe you're punishing your dog by making them wear it, I urge you to give it a little time and really see if it's just perception or if it actually bothers them. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but once I personally quit resisting it and just started putting it on her at the first sign of trouble, we took a major step forward in getting her back issues under control. Of course, using something like this is best done under vet supervision. My only real complaint is the leg straps. The velcro wants to catch around the little loops that hold them up. I have found it easier to not take the straps out of the loops, but merely loosen them and help her pull her legs through one at a time. Overall, a worthwhile product and for my baby, it has made a big difference!

Our dog suffered a spinal injury and needed to be crated and sedated 24/7 for a month. It was literally a living hell trying to get him to take his medicine, keep him crated and not moving. He was very, very restless in the crate and also refused to eat or do anything. Once we got this brace and put it on him, we could let him out of the crate without fear that he would reinjure his back. Now he eats, and we can hide his medication in his food. He also has less stress, so he's not thrashing around in a crate. He can also easily go to the bathroom. The brace is extremely well-designed and sturdy without being too constricted. Just amazing. I cannot say enough about it.

We have been using this for last 3 years. This is the one that works for our Frenchie the best. Since last year, the stitching has gone downhill. Bad stitches for all of them. This is the third one we bought this year. Somehow it is very loose and comes out very easily. I wish the quality goes back to the ones that were made before.

I initially ordered an XL for my dog as he is 17 inches long from the crease of his neck to the literal base of his tail. XL was way too long so I had to return for a L. The L fits perfect! If your dog is in between sizes the measurement I would worry about the most is the back measurement. And instead of going all the way to the literal base of the tail I would go to about the hips. The length of the back on the L is 15.5 inches. Back is the most important part of the harness to make sure it fits- if it’s too long it will not offer proper support for your dog and they will not be able to walk properly in it. The rest of the back brace is adjustable enough to fit everywhere else as long as the back length is correct. It DEFINITELY helps my dog be able to walk. Without it he has a “drunken back end” and will severely lean to the left/drag his back legs. This brace helps him be able to walk normally- not perfectly but WAY better than without and I like that he can stay mobile while his back heals so his leg muscles don’t atrophy. The “bones” in the back brace are also made of plastic which is a huge bonus for us because that means I can take him to the beach on calm days for some hydrotherapy relief on his spine- If the “bones” that keep the back brace sturdy were made of metal they would rust from the salt water.

Amazing product to support the back of any dog just has straps at the back that cover my dogs, females part so probably better suited for a male dog or a larger dog at the back end.

Really good support for dogs with bad backs. I would definitely recommend the large fitted my Bassett hound.
