First, this is a completely unnecessary gadget as it replaces a knife which everybody already has in their kitchen. However it's really great for 2 types of people, the ones who are particular about having their bagels sliced nicely (me) and those who run the risk of hurting themselves when cutting bagels (daughter).It does a great job of making a nice cut in the bagel without having to mash it and it's quite a bit easier to use (and safer) than a bread knife as you just drag the bagel around the blade while the sides hold it in.The only downsides to it are that it's not really easy to keep clean as the inside of the plastic catches stuff. That also means that with fatter bagels using this can take the toppings off your bagel which is a little annoying. It's also not the smallest gadget in my kitchenOverall it's almost perfect for what it's intended for and a gadget I'm happy to have.

Works well...but found it easier to start the cut with the bagel anchored and overhanging the counter rather than starting it handheld.

This thing cut bagels like butter. Super sharp and doesn't produce a bunch of crumbs like my bread knife does.Kind of wish it was adjustable to make the slices perfectly down the middle.

I love this bagel slicer! I could never slice my bagels evenly. I'd get 1 thick side and 1 narrow side. This is very easy to use and I get decent bagels.

The media could not be loaded. This has a very sharp serrated blade that cuts through bagels like butter! Keeps the bagel in place so that you get a very uniform slice all the way through. I have a guillotine type slicer and it does not do well with most bagels, especially softer chewier type bagels at all. Just crushes them - don’t waste your money. Throwing that out. This is a definite upgrade. Works perfectly.I did read a review that mentioned that it will get water on the inside of it if you rinse it out or put it in the dishwasher. I don’t recommend the dishwasher for sure. This ended up being true as I rinsed it out in the sink after I first used it and noticed water in the inside - but it drained out after a few shakes and letting it sit. Just a minor design flaw. Would be good if it was sealed.I would suggest just wiping it down with a wet sponge or paper towel after use. Be careful not to cut yourself - that blade is super sharp - and that’s a good thing!

Hey all,Congrats!! You found your solution!! I have been cutting bagels with knife and cutting board my whole life. A couple months ago I somehow cut my finger pretty good. I decided to look at alternative solutions. I thought about the guillotine style but read they can smash instead of cut so I went with the wooden holder you put the bagel in and cut with your own knife.After a couple weeks of dragging knife blade against side of wooden box, having blade pop inside box stifling cutting and the need to still use your finger to strategically hold still along with needing to clean out after each use had me looking for alternative solutions and I am glad I did because I ran across this bagel cutter.I was very happy to see the blade guard it came with as I did not know it would be as safe to store as it is. The first use shocked me as the blade went through like a light saber. Cut was nice, smooth and center. I cut over sink not needing additional clean up like my other solutions attempts. I am thankful to find this. Feeding through one side and pull through on other is effortless and safe. Two thumbs up!

This is a decent bagel knife, with a huge flaw. The handle FILLS UP WITH WATER when you wash it. It is labeled as dishwasher safe and it went through the cycle just fine on the top rack. However, upon removing it from the dishwasher the plastic handle was completely full of water. I mean FULL - it was noticeably heavier and sloshed. Holding it vertical lets the water GUSH out of the small opening at the bottom, but it takes a couple of days for it to drain completely and you KNOW it isn't drying inside the handle itself. Washing it by hand helps with that issue, but it is very difficult to wash by hand without cutting yourself. It does cut well - the blade is extremely sharp - and the blade cover it comes with is very nice and snaps on securely. There are notches along the handle housing where it looks like you could "pop" it open to drain the water, but the plastic is not very thick or heavy-duty feeling and it doesn't open easily. If you forced it open, I'm certain the plastic would crack or at least chip.This is a good idea, but badly executed. If you decide to get it, DO NOT submerge it in water or put it in your dishwasher. Just FYI.
