Great pad for car camping
Just got this for our car camping trips. I was using our back packing pads which were great for space but not roomy and very difficult to get back into the stuff sack. These are very nice sized. I am a big guy, 300+ and I was very pleased with the comfort and size.I followed the instruction video from Teton on getting the self inflating pad as full as possible without having to blow it up myself. In fairness, it self inflated to a level that most people will be pleased with. For a little extra firmness, I did give about 6 extra breaths to fill the pad a little more firm. No big deal. the pad does inflate to the 3 inches advertised. My real test was to see how well it deflated and how well it resumed the factory packaged shape. I opened the valves and rolled out the air and repeated this process 3 times. Much to my happiness, the pad was back to the pre-opened size and fit effortless into the carry sack. The pad does take up some room but it will be perfect for car camping. My wife now wants one to replace her TETON Sports Camp Pad that she uses with her TETON Sports Outfitter xxl cot. The camp pad is an excellent and comfortable pad, it just takes up too much room in the car.http://www.amazon.com/TETON-Sports-Outfitter-XXL-Camp/dp/B000P6BGYI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465136420&sr=8-1&keywords=teton+cothttp://www.amazon.com/TETON-Sports-Outfitter-XXL-Camp/dp/B000P6DJ8O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1465136420&sr=8-3&keywords=teton+cot

Started leaking air and valves became hard to operate
We bought this for camping with our kids once every few months (so we don't really use it too heavily). After a year it started leaking air, which means it doesn't anymore provide cushioning and provides much worse insulation than if should. Also, the valves need a lot of effort to close / turn (this started even faster, after a few months of use)I really wanted to love this product, but sadly for me it wasn't the quality for the price.

TETON XXL Self-inflating Air Pad. I like it a lot!
I have been researching air pads and air mattresses for over a month. I kept coming back to this pad because it has a lot of great reviews. I bought it specifically for a motorcycle trip this summer.. from Boston to Sturgis SD.. where I'll be tent camping for almost two weeks. I was looking for something fairly compact.. easy to inflate.. and comfortable. This pad is all of that.I bought it on a Thursday.. and it arrived on Monday.. free shipping. After inspecting it.. I was happy with the rolled up (packed) size. It'll pack nicely on my motorcycle.. along with my tent.. luggage.. and other items. I unpacked it.. and immediately let it self inflate. I'm not a very patient person.. so I didn't wait for it to inflate on its own. Instead.. I chose to blow into the valves by mouth to speed things up. After a few minutes.. it was completely inflated.I haven't used it outdoors yet.. but I set it up in my home and its very nice. The top material is very plush and feels good and comfortable. The bottom side is tacky.. and keeps the pad in place without sliding around. Its plenty thick enough that I don't touch the floor or bottom out.. even when laying on my side. I can't wait to use this on my trip.. its gonna be very comfy. In fact.. I may buy a second pad.. to use on camping trips with my fiancé. They connect together via a velcro strip on the sides. All in all.. I'm very pleased and I definitely made the right decision.

Prone to leaks
This is nice camp pad, except that it has little protection from leaks. Ive had mine for two months and spent much of the time patching. Customer service sent me a free patch kit, buts thats it.

Fantastic!!
These are plush, deluxe pads. Wow!! I bough two, and you can velcro them together. The fabric on the sleeping surface is really nice--much nicer than a thermarest--and they really seem to have longevity to them. Bought them a year ago, and still work great. These things are pretty big, and not exactly light-weight, but I bought them for car camping and Burning Man. At Burning Man, I put them on top of an inflatable Queen sized mattress, and all I can tell you is that my bed on the playa was A-Mazing!! Pure glamping experience sans RV. We also put them on top of an uncomfortable futon when guests come. You just can't go wrong--the size is really big, but that is just what I wanted. Definitely not for backpacking, but I have a Thermarest NeoAir for that..

Awesome, Durable, Comfortable, Big and Simple
Really a 5-Star item, but I made it 4-Stars because the velcro on the side sometimes latches on to certain blanket types.Other than that: This pad is awesome! Its big and wide enough for my broad shoulders and for my arms and hands to stay on the sleeping pad at all times. Stays inflated all night, you can make it firm or soft. If I decide to lay on my side my shoulder won't touch the ground rendering my arm sore and in pain in the morning. I roll it out when others come over and don't want to sleep on the couch (I recommend they don't because couches are very uneven which will cause soreness & back problems) pop open the air spouts and let it inflate itself while I do other things. Come back and close 1 air vent while I inflate to desired firmness in about 5-10 blows. Ready for bed.To Deflate, Roll Up & Slide back into Case: Pop open both vents and lay on it then start from the bottom and roll the air out, once fully rolled up I rest both knees on it and squeeze as much air out as possibly before closing both spouts. Then I unroll it & proceed to roll it again but with the vents still closed so its rolled up tighter. When its past mid way I open up one air vent and continue to roll it and sit on it with my knees to get the rest of the air out. Now it will easily slide into the case and before I close it all up for storage I open 1 vent so it inflates inside the bag a little. To take it out, just sit on it with your knees to get some air out and close the vent then it will slide out with ease. DONE- G

Excellent self inflating mat 4 years going strong
Very nice wide and thick. I appreciate the covering materials are not slippery. I purchased the large version . The size is best for car camping. Materials, workmanship and comfort all very good. I have slept on it approx 15 nights and it is comfortable.Update 2017: I am working away from home now (6 months) and I use this mat exclusively to sleep on, 4-5 days each week. I am 180lbs, a side sleeper and toss and turn. The mat is warm and comfortable. I never feel the ground through the mat. I am very satisfied and would buy this mat again. I would not take this mat backpacking exclusively a car camping mat.

Awesome purchase!
Bought 2 XXL and they stuck together perfectly to make a queen size mattress which we covered with a queen fitted sheet to make a bed. The material on both sides is very soft and non-slippery so these pads would also work well with sleeping bags directly on top as well. I loved the fact that we didn't have to take tons of time to inflate the pads (great when you arrive at a campsite at 10:30pm - no joke). We let them inflate as soon as the tent was pitched and by the time we unloaded all our gear and set up the tent fly etc, we topped them up with a few puffs of air and they were good to go. Sleeping on was shockingly comfortable without any transfer of movement to the bed partner. We slept on them for two nights and did not have to "top up" with air at all. For the quality, the price was very reasonable. I am very happy with this purchase.

Love the extra length and the 30" width
The item came on time. We purchased the Alps mountaineering air pad as well and this one has more cushion. It has 2 valves to open and close so it makes inflating and deflating faster. It has a slip grip on one side so the mat doesn't move around. It also has Velcro so you can attach to another mat. Love the extra length and the 30" width. 3" inflation is great. Love this product, will be buying another one. Highly recommend.

Love it!
Got this as a gift for my partner who is 6' 4" - the XXL was the perfect size. Quality material, easy inflation and deflation to a compact size. Incredibly comfortable -even on cold, hard ground. Ending up ordering one for myself later on.

Very comfortable, good materials
Very comfortable, good materials, Velcro is almost unnecessary as the bottom fabric is extremely non slippery so the pads hold together anyway.Folds and vents very quickly with both valves open.R value is at 6.8, we slept very well on nights at 12ºC.
