Lobo Envelope Packet Thai Paste, Tom Ka, 1.76 Ounce (Pack of 3)

Amazing flavor.

Excellent flavor- comparable to our favorite Thai restaurant! Just a hint of heat (not too spicy). Makes it quick and easy to have Tom Ka Gai soup whenever you want it. Nice not to have to source all the special ingredients for the soup (lemon grass, gangal, etc). Still need to add Fish sauce and lime to taste at the end of cooking.

Tasty stuff. And indeed if you live someplace that you can't get Tom Kha, this will do quite nicely. But check out the nutritional information on the English package. If you make this packet into two servings as I did, you will be getting well over a full day's worth of sodium and saturated fat from the recipe. I did find it more salty than I like but I admit that I am bit sensitive to saltiness. But if you're okay with that, it's as loaded with sodium as ramen bowl, so par for the course? It was delicious, though. We used half the required water and it was a tad rich. Might adjust to something closer to the recipe.

This paste is absolutely delicious - I crave it so I always have at least one package on hand. It's very salty (I've been limiting my salt due to high blood pressure), but again, it's SO good I have to splurge once in awhile. To make the soup I use I pkg of paste,, 1 can of coconut milk (unsweetened), 1 cup water, tofu (I used the whole box), broccoli (1/2 bag frozen), mushrooms (whole box), 1/2 green pepper, and 1/3 of the box of fine rice noodles. Chicken, shrimp, etc. could also be added. You may want to add more water, but I like my soup thick.

Easy to use for alight lunch or dinner. Add shrimp or chicken meat and fresh vegetables for a delicious meal.

Lemongrass is a PITA to grind up on your own so this is a fantastic shortcut to a very nostalgic childhood flavor (if you're Thai.)

I read some reviews about how following the directions left it a bit watery. So I used 1 can of thai kitchen coconut milk and 1/2 can water instead of the amounts called for on the package. (Slightly less coconut milk and way less water- but who wants to open a second can of coconut milk for 1/3 cup?) Added everything together and heated it up. Skipped the chicken, added rice noodles during cooking. Absolutely delicious. Could add more water and not hurt it, but I loved the creaminess of the coconut milk.

It comes directly from Chang Mai so it is authentic Thai cuisine and delicious! Coming from Thailand to Canada took about three weeks but the tracking details made it easy to follow. Thank you!
