The torch more than meet my expectations, but the vendor ADeStore totally exceeded them.
Torch was as I expected, a bit more powerful than I thought it would be. Flame is very long which might seem like an issue at first if all you want to do it put a quick char on something delicate like a Creme Brulee. But you can turn the main valve control knob to get a very small flame once lit.Piezo trigger ignition is very reliable and the position of the trigger makes it easy to activate with a single hand. Also the flame shape can be somewhat manipulated with the gray adjustment knob along the barrel. It goes from a spot to a wide flame. One noteworthy thing is how often we take for granted a very proactive and responsive vendor? When I placed my order, in addition to the email I got from Amazon I actually got one directly from the vendor (ADeStore) thanking me for my purchase informing it was on the way. Then again once I got my order I got another email letting me know to contact them if I had any issues or if anything was wrong with my order. It's very easy to take something like that for granted in this day and age. Especially when you sometimes have to fight with a vendor to make things right when something does go wrong. So I really appreciate it when a seller takes the time to actually make sure I got everything and its working out okay in such a proactive manner.Thank you ADeStore for a great experience and I look forward to my next purchase with you!

DO NOT BUY!!!
Recommend this torch! It puts out quite a lot more BTUs than all the small creme brulee torches. Sears my steaks well. However, there is a thicker layer of cooked meat than I expected. The next step in higher BTU torches would be the Mapp gas torches (recommended by Modernist Cuisine) that use a combination of propyne and propadiene, which put out temps of 2925 °C (5300 °F). This torch is the best combination of cost effectiveness and performance. It uses relatively inexpensive butane canisters for the gas powered stoves that you can buy at many asian markets.I got this from AD Home and Kitchen and the first one both the gas flow knob and the oxygen control were loose but he replaced it for free. The service is awesome and I highly recommend buying from him! Remember to heat with the end of the flame and not the part close to the nozzle as it is hotter.UPDATE Jan/9/2014:Ok, I have 2 of these torches now (one was replaced by AD Home for free). Both developed the gas flow knob problem where the knob became loose. Just recently I used the new one that had been replaced and gas started spewing out from both ends of the torch. The whole thing caught on fire. I was lucky that the butane can did not explode. The fire was due to the gas and cannot be put out by water or any other liquid. I threw the entire thing on the floor and it damaged my hardwood floor and cabinets. I was finally able to put out the fire by knocking the torch off the butane using my stainless steel trash can. I would not buy this again and recommend against buying this torch. I will also look into legal actions against the seller and manufacturer.

UNSAFE - beware
I think the product is unsafe. When pointing down too far (more than about 15 degrees) the flame suddenly surges and goes out of adjustment. The second time I tried using it, the connection leaked and all of a sudden I had flames all over the top of the canister, and the mid (plastic section). After barely getting it with repeated hard blowing, I put it away feeling glad it didn't light the place on fire or explode. Since there is only one way to attach the canister, and it was firmly on, it's hard to imagine that the reason was a poor connection. I believe the produce is poorly engineered against such hazards. The control ring seems inaccurately made and has a negligible effect on the flame. the flow control knob on the back is extremely hard to adjust accurately and does not keep the flame flow in adjustment once you get it working. Either this is a lousy product or the quality control is very poor. It is visually IDENTICAL to the Iwatani, except for the label (which is the same size and goes in the same place. I feel sure the Iwatani is made by the same mfr. Buyer beware and if you buy it, get used to this horrible torch outside where you can throw it down quickly if something goes wrong.

This is a nice torch with a good set of adjustments
This is a nice torch with a good set of adjustments, much better than the basic propane torch it replaces. Using it for low-temp soldering, sweating pipes, heating stuck fittings and general mechanical stuff. The butane is cheap, easy to get, and last a long time. Marks off for the crappy self-igniter, which only works occasionally. I just use it with a lighter. On edit - bumped the stars up to 4, after figuring out that the front barrel adjustment turns to reduce flow rate, and then the trigger self-igniter works perfect every time. My bad.

Very nice torch to pair with Sous Vide cooking
An excellent performer! Attaches and detaches easily to gas bottles locally available at my Asian Market (used to table top cookers). Flame adjusts easily. Sometimes the torch is a bit particular about being tilted too far when you first fire it up, but after a few seconds of burn time, it becomes very tolerant of steeper angles.I've run it about 15-20 minutes total fire time, and I'm still on the first bottle of gas. I love that I can just attach the bottles, without have to deal with a built in fluid reservoir for the fuel. The torch also has a nice, large flame area instead of one of the small, pin-point hobby-style outputs. Makes it much easier to sear a large steak or half a grapefruit for Brulee'd fruit.Would buy again!

Overall a nice home use product
While it is new, there are no no immediate problems. Foreseeable future problems are the weak plastic lock on the bottom that connects to the butane can, has to be handled with care, otherwise, can break off.Not sure if it is the product I have, but the torch size knob on the back end is a little unstable; certain movements will cause the torch size to increase or decrease by itself.Overall a nice home use product. Wouldn't recommend for heavy commercial use.
