Saint Matrona the Blind: Our Friend in Christ

God Is Wonderfu In His Saints
Ariane Trifunovic Montemuro has presented to us the life and "presence" of a holy and blessed soul who physically passed from this earthly life in 1952 yet who still lives in eternity with God as one of His saints: Saint Matrona The Blind of Moscow. There's an old saying: "seeing is believing" however Saint Matrona's life, example and prayers show us that even more so "believing is seeing".Matrona was born blind (without eyes) . . . lost her ability to walk at age seventeen . . . lived through and in the Atheist Bolshevik Communist Revolution and persecution of The Church and The Faith to which she held to mind, body and soul. And within that Faith she was recognized as a "wonderworker" in and by God's grace and action. Matrona was a help spiritually and physically to everyone who came to her . . . and she remains so today to any and all who come to her in prayer and trust in God. She was physically blind she saw with spiritual depth: reality. And she brings spiritual sight to the spiritually blind who look to her to open their eyes to God and to the spiritual realities even in this world in their lives.Ariene has done an excellent job in not merely telling the story of "Matronuschka" but of bringing our mind and thoughts into a presence with her so that we can learn to talk and walk with Saint Matrona as a friend, a companion, and help and guide as we walk the gospel through all the obstacles and road blocks, detours and pitfalls we encounter day by day, month by month, year by year. The book "Saint Matrona The Blind: Our Friend In Christ" is not a book one is likely to read through once and then lay aside but might well return to time and time again to re-read or re-visit passages that one can identify with and recognize our own selves and relation to God and His saints and to Saint Matron especially. God IS wonderful in His saints, and Saint Matrona reminds you and will help you to become one of them yourself.Ariane has included an Akathist Prayer Service as the end of the book which will become a most spiritually graced part of your prayer life to pray often. The book is more than worth getting . . . the Saint is more than worth learning about and knowing, and the prayers are more than worth praying.

A Sightless Saint Sheds Light on My Life
I've enjoyed reading about the Life of St. Matrona. The writing makes her story very accessible and applicable to my own life. The Akathist makes it possible to use this book quite often. I recommend to everyone who wants to know and love this 20th century saint.

We need Saints now
I appreciate authors who write about Saints that we don’t have many books on in the English language.Saint Matrona was a Russian saint during communist takeover. An important and easy read for our current times.
