Progresso Spicy Jambalaya is Delicious and has a Good Kick
This review is for "Progresso Spicy Jambalaya Soup With Sausage & Ham, 18.5 oz Can (Pack of 12)", ASIN B095D9VF36.I find this soup absolutely delicious. It's currently my favorite canned soup. A typical lunch for me is a can of this soup with sandwich and a Honeycrisp apple. I would say it's more of a soup than a Jambalaya.I was extremely disappointed when this soup was discontinued at my local W**MART. I checked Amazon and found that the cost was on par with the W**MART price, so immediately ordered a case. The case arrived quickly, no cans were damaged, and every can was fresh and delicious. A few weeks later I came back to Amazon to buy another case only to find that the price had increased by about 60%. Yikes! I then searched all of my local options and eventually located the Spicy Jambalaya in one grocery store. I cleaned out the shelf (16 cans) and I haven't quite finished these yet nor have I been back to see if the grocery store restocked them.Is the soup spicy hot? That's always a difficult question for me to answer because I genuinely AM a chilihead. It certainly does have a kick, and it's more than I would have expected from a canned soup sold in a grocery store. It's enough that I don't feel the need to add in some additional hot sauce. But is it "insanely hot", "too hot", "soup from hell", etc? No way. If you think Tabasco, Sriracha, Cholula, Tapatio, etc. are hot then sure, this soup is too much for you. I'd say the heat level is about what I'd expect if someone were to take a non-spicy soup and add a good dose of their favorite Habanero-based or 6k-8K Scoville hot sauce. Think Scorned Woman, El Yucateo Red, Tabasco Habanero. It's nowhere near the range of sauces containing pepper extract such as those produced by Blair's or Dave's.

Spicy Jambalaya is good... but very hot
I enjoy spicy foods, and with the exception of certain hot peppers, I have never had anything that is *too hot*... especially in prepackaged soups. Our local, authentic Mexican restaurant has a very spicy "El Diablo" dish that is near the top of my spicy threshold, but that's about it.Normally when I eat canned soup, like Chicken noodle, I shake in a fair amount of Tabasco sauce just to pump up the flavor. I figured I was the perfect candidate to try these new Progresso soups,This spicy Jambalaya is truly spicy - it's no joke. It is hotter than straight Tabasco. No one in my family (other than me) will touch the stuff. It's not "Jalpenos in my burrito hot" or "Taco bell hot sauce hot" - this stuff is the real deal. It is good...but be warned... unless you like very hot stuff you may struggle with it. For me.. I have to be in the right mood to eat it.The Spicy Chicken Noodle soup (marked "Medium) is excellent. It is still very spicy but very manageable. It is more of a peppery flavor. It is probably my new favorite soup.FInal verdict... know what you are getting into. I like it, but for many people this stuff will be too spicy.

Spicy enough, but usually expensive
I have blended this Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup with Progresso's Roasted Chicken Noodle Soup (50/50) with good results. I recommend that unless you really, really like your food spicy!

Not Labeling This Soup "Extra Hot" is a Crime Against Humanity
As a chili-head, I love this soup. It makes me, someone who has built up a significant tolerance against hot chilis, sweat after just a few spoonfuls, and gives me a significant endorphin rush. Why, then, does it seem to be marketed towards sweet little grandmas, looking for something slightly more flavorful to satisfy their aging tastebuds? "Spice It Up!" Perfect! Now, add a thermometer that says "HOT," that we'll plagiarize from a can of Tostito's Hot Salsa, that's so many orders of magnitude lower on the Scoville scale, the number lies beyond human comprehension. This soup is so hot that, in my spice-fueled delirium, I literally referred to it as a "sauce" rather than a "soup" every single time in the initial draft of this review. Given the uncanny consistency of my error, I was conveniently able to instantly fix the problem using Find & Replace. Do not worry; this soup is not sauce-like in its consistency. It is very flavorful, with its umami chicken stock and hearty sausage and ham, although I don't expect this to be relevant to 90% of the people buying this product, as if you haven't built up a significant tolerance to heat, then I don't think you should expect to be able to actually taste the subtleties of the broth, over the agony of your tongue being pierced everywhere at once. This is not a soup you want served to your dear Aunt Mildred, who told you she's getting bored of Chicken Noodle. This is a soup you want served to you, when you're asked how hot you want your Jambalaya, and you stand up to assert dominance, look the poor, frightened waiter in the eye, and whisper: "DESTROY ME."

Just plain HOT! and not spicey hot.
I love hot food. So when Progresso decided to step up the spicey level of some of their soups, I plunged in and bought a case of HOT! Jambalaya. It was hot as advertised; but it was just hot. The hot ingredients did nothing to enhance the spiciness or taste of the soup. In fact, the hotness just covered the flavor making for a very dull bowl of soup.

Good stew with a lot of Spiciness
I made a can of this for a quick dinner, and I threw a little extra rice and a chopped breakfast sausage in to give it a little more bulk. The spiciness of the broth was pretty high, somewhere in the habenero range,I started sweating and got a runny nose, and had to get a towel to dry off. So if you like it spicy, this is for you. If you dont like spicy food, this may be a little much
