Great for cleaning Bedridden Hospice family members w/Dementia
When a dementia patient is nearing the end it is almost impossible to communicate instructions. When changing attends it is common for end-stage dementia patients to grab their caregiver's wrists, try to reach into their attends or occasionally become aggressive during cleaning. These little mittens were so lovely. The family could place them on the hands assuring that they will help to keep the hands warm while we clean the family member up. They were received so well by our family member and we were able to do a quality cleaning job each morning and night (and other times as needed). The center has these soft cushy cotton fillings for the patient to squeeze. Then after cleaning just remove and put away. It is important to remember--this is a temporary tool to use when tending to the dementia patient's needs. THIS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A LONG TERM RESTRAINT! HOSPICE is not allowed to use these tools any more because of abuse. This is all about caring lovingly for the family member in need of our love and support.

Works well, stops scratching and picking
Works well so long as you wrap the wrists snug, don't over tighten as this could lead to restricted blood flow.

Comfy mitt
I loved the mitts for my male super-senior rambunctious relative who suffers with dementia at times. My only problem is he can eventually wiggle his hand out of them so i had to buy some cut chains and 2 small gold locks from the hardware store to put around the mitted wrist so he can't get out of them...and this worked. I only need to do this while I do our household errands and remove them when I return home.

Solved all my problems
I have a husband with stage 6 Alzheimer's. Every morning the bed would be wet, however his diaper and booster pad would be totally dry. I finally figured out he was pulling his penis out and peeing outside the diaper then going back to sleep. Since using these at night, that hasn't happened once. He also loves his kitty and his kitty loves him. I've noticed scratches on his arm several times and our cat never scratches us. I started watching them and when the cat would curl up on his lap he'd hold him and pet him. But when the cat wanted to get down he'd forcefully hold him causing the cat to have to fight to get off his lap. One day I witnessed him putting his hands around the cats neck to hold him place and the cat was crying. I screamed a him to let him go and since I had just gotten these gloves, I thought they could serve another purpose by keeping my cat from being injured but still allow them to snuggle. And it has worked as well. They don't interfere with him using the handrails on the toilet. He can grip them with no problem and they also have stopped him from crushing my fingers when I walk him down the hall.

Not fool proof
My wife has dementia and she still manages to get the gloves off. I tried several ways to secure them and tied them differently without success.

Protects well
I don't use these as restraints.. I cut that off and use them to keep my Autistic daughter from chewing on her hand. The mesh allows it to dry quickly.

Restraint Gloves Review Product: Dementia - 2PCS, Control Mitts Safety Hand Glove, Restraint Mitts, to Prevent Scratching for adults Seller: X-henghua With regards to the seller, the gloves arrived within just a few days of ordProductVery happy about that! With regards to the Product: These gloves were purchased for an adult with a Developmental Disability to protect them while working on some Pinching, and Plucking Behaviours. The Gloves protect them from self - injury. I had hoped these could be a summertime alternative to the heavy and hot White Padded on One Side Cloth Gloves. Which was true, and the person wearing the gloves was visibly relieved and happier. They refrained from tugging at the wrists. And they didn't bite the front of the gloves which also comunicated less discomfort. The drawback is that with some effort they can wiggle a finger through the mesh to satisfy the Pinching and Plucking but this tends to happen when stressed by other medical issues. So by enlarge very happy with these gloves, the price point is less than half the price of those white gloves. But to be honest for this particular person they have 3 pairs of these gloves and 3 pairs of the white heavy gloves. I wash them in a bag with the regular wash, they wash and dry very well. But I will be buying more of these blue gloves and look forward to new innovations to make life safe but more confortable for those who need this support.

These gloves are well padded on one side and not at all on the other. Because there is nothing inside the glove to hold the fingers, the hand moves aroubd inside and often we found that the padded section had flipped and was on the wrong side. This allowed the wearer to scratch through the non padded side. Eventually the wearer scratched a hole through the material and now his fingers are out and scratching his skin. Like another reviewer stated, wish there was padding on both sides (almost like a boxing glove). That being said, it was the best glove found for an individual with dementia that can't stop scratching.
