Love it!It's well made, sturdy yet beautiful. The wooden box has a cool clasp and glass in the lid. The brass sundial could use some instructions, but I suppose I can look online how to use it. The compass has a switch that you can lock the needle into position or unlock it for free moving action to north. It also comes with a built in level (bubble). Overall, I'm very pleased, but if I had one wish it would be that it came with instructions.Beautiful piece.

Item arrived on time but, when I opened the decorative wooden storage box; it quite literally feel apart in my hands (see photos). There was no damage to the shipping box that it came in...it was just poor quality work; something that I'll fix with a little glue. As for the Sundial itself, I like it ! It will be used for self-study, Science projects and conversation starters. I would have given the item 5 stars, but as I said, the sum of parts rates it a 3.

I ordered this as a planned Christmas gift for my son, who's coming up on 10 years in the Navy this winter; it seems the perfect gift for a young man who's always been fascinated by mechanical things as well as electronics and has as much appreciation for the glitz of Tokyo and Seoul and Singapore as for antiques and museums. Of course, I had to hope that the images and description of the item were accurate as to the product; some products look better in the photos than in your hands.Thankfully, this is not one of those products; it's one of those where the pictures literally cannot portray the item as beautifully as it presents itself in person. They can't capture the rich luster of the wooden case or the gleam of the brass properly, and no photo can convey the solid weight of this instrument, or how utterly smoothly the hinges operate.I can't wait to see his reaction when he opens this beauty!

This is a nice little display piece, a reproduction antique brass compass and sundial in a wooden box with an ornate thumb lock closure. It arrived very well packaged. It's a display item, the compass sort of works and the sundial will display a time when pointed north in bright sunlight, but it's not accurate. The dimensions are off on the sundial and the Roman numerals displayed are out of order. It's something that would go well on a desk or shelf for display. The wooden box is really nice and my husband (who collects compasses) admired the box more than the compass.

This is beautiful. I just love the quality of it! It was well packed for travel and to prevent damage. After removing all of that I was left with the beautiful sun dial storage/presentation box. The wood and metal are so nice! The brass makes it feel heavy, fancy, and luxurious. I have no complaints or issues to report about it! I like it enough to recommend. Would make a handsome gift idea especially to those who already have all/most things!
