Got the defected piece at first purchase but after the replacement they works fine. Most important thing to notice is this adapter only works with the 3.5mm cable that does not contain microphone. It only works with micless cable. Here is a workaround if you are facing the muffled and mono sound in your earphones or headphones with microphone in it, then just click and hold the mic button to fix the audio to the original stereo. But it will only remain stereo till the time you are click and hold the mic button, as you release the button, it will go back to the mono and muffled sounding audio. Otherwise with the micless cables in headphones like Sennheiser Hd 280 Pro works fine and sounds exactly the same as the original adapter that comes with the headphones itself.
