perfect for the hoildays, fun for the children!!!
If you want something to boast your children's Christmas spirit this is the doll to get!!! a lot of people are complaining about the thinnest and the size. yes the doll is very thin and the doll is small but it's the perfect size for an elf. my family and I are new to this elf on the shelf tradition thing. when we heard of it, we instantly wanted to get this dolls. my mother has all four of them. they are so adorable. if you have children in your household and you want to make Christmas more fun, you have to play along with the story that comes with the doll. Before you open the doll you read the book to your children, and you all have to name the elf. Once you name the elf, the elf will receive his or her's magic. You must not let your children touch the doll or the elf will loses his or her's magic. every night when the kids are asleep you have to place the elf in a different location so the children can believe that the elf is really alive! enough about the tradition and more about the product , this doll is indeed very cute, i seen many reviewers complained about the color of the doll, if you don't want a dark skin doll get a blue eye doll, i personally don't mind. i come from a Hispanic family so we are all full of color, some of us are very light as well, some of us are brown. please do not make this a race thing. this doll is for the children and families to enjoy Christmas and add something interesting and fun to their tradition. i have to also warned you buyers that some sellers on here do not have the version of the doll shown on the picture. i have purchased the brown eye girl and she didn't have a round face like the others i have brought so make sure you contact the seller to make sure how the doll looks before purchasing. i brought all three blue eye girl and boy, and brown eye boy from Amazon.llc and i received it fast and it looked just as the picture shown. btw the book is amazing it reminds me of one of Dr. Suess's books. :)

Quality product ... but ...
I personally don't like the Elf on the Shelf. I don't even like the idea of Santa. I don't like pretending and lying to my kids, about anything, ever.' This product is beautifully boxed with the elf and the book exactly as described, no problem there. So why don't I like it? Well ... the idea was thrust onto us by a relative [sister-in-law] when we were visiting Grandma's one Thanksgiving and the day after, voila! My sister-in-law's kids had this "special elft" who appeared at Grandma's house and they read the book, etc. My kids were crying because they didn't have an elf show up and proceeded to write letters and place them next to their cousin's elf to take to Santa that night when he flew back to the North pole requesting that Santa send them an elf. Since they were 3 and 5 I didn't have the heart to tell my kids there's no Santa much less any elf such as this. So here we are a few years later and I still have to get it out every year the day after Thanksgiving, no matter where we are in the country whether it be at home or visiting relatives ... yes, they like it. But it's getting really old for us adults ... I'm dying to give it away to some young couple with a toddler someday.

10/10 Would Invite This Tiny Stalker Back Into My Home Again
If you love Christmas and your kids, don’t need sleep, enjoy unnecessary pressure, spending money, creating ridiculous messes, and secretly miss playing with Barbies… this may be just what you’re looking for. Let’s start with the craftsmanship. The arms and legs require “gentle manual manipulation,” which in my case meant shoving wire into his shoulders and stitching him back up like a tiny holiday ER patient. Worth it? The smiles say yes. My sanity says we’ll see. The hat does not stay on and is frequently lost in transit, but honestly, that just adds to the suspense. Is he moving… or did the hat fall again? Either way, ✨magic✨. My child is absolutely convinced this little guy will appear in his bedroom at night. Fear = obedience, right? Parenting experts may disagree, but December behavior has been immaculate. Overall, this tiny, smiling creep brought chaos, wonder, and mild psychological warfare to our home, and somehow… joy. Highly recommend if you’re looking to add extra stress, extra magic, and a whole lot of “why did we do this?” to your holiday season. 🎄👀

A bit overpriced but cute idea
I really like that they have some different types of elves, I think it makes way more sense for them to increase the diversity of elves available for "adoption" because it would be more believable for the kids... oh wait we all have identical elves ( creepy right?). Anyhow I like that this elf has a different look/feel to it than most other toys ( ie the plush versions). Gives them some distinction, believability, the book is ok (hardcover and prob. what most of the cost is for), illustration are so so to be honest. But I like the idea, we watched the movie when it came on CBS or NBC or one of those channels ( I use a converter box so it was a free channel regardless), def. not worth buying the movie BUT depending on the age of your kids it could help convince them, it does a good job of explaining the packaging, why you could get one at a store, etc. My kid is 3 and a half so perfect age for digging this kind of thing. He did touch him in the first few days and elf had to recover ( like in the movie) and didn't show up for a day and when he returned was in cuddled in santa hat, with tissues and thermometer etc... my son vehemently defends Elf if anyone gets to close now and insists on "giving" him more magic every night before he does to bed by having me lift him to wherever elf is and doing his magical finger wand movement in front of elf. it's cute.

This may be expensive but my kids absolutely went mad for it. They cried when he went back to the North Pole. The gift box and book did make a difference I think. And the elf is so much more cute than the cheap ones! The only issue is that there is no wire in the arms or legs so you are limited with the positioning of the naughty elf. I still managed to figure a lot of convincing positions out. I still give 5 stars as we all loved it. Beware though, if you have excitable children, one of mine woke up extra early every day as she was excited to see what the elf was up to!

Recomendo.
