Seabirds: The New Identification Guide

I have taken 53 birding cruises and many small boat trips to see ocean birds. This is perhaps the best bird indentification guide in any category that I have ever seen, and certainly the best ocean bird guide. The art is perfect, and includes a good variety of angles of the birds, and various plumages. The text is spot on as well, and the book even includes fairly recent discoveries, such as the Pincoya Storm-Petrel. Nothing was spared. Everyone interested in ocean birds needs this book. It is a treasure. Congratualtions to Peter Harrison, Martin Perrow, and Hans Larsson. You have created a master piece.

We are preparing for pelagic birding trips and finally got our copy of Seabirds and really like the format and illustrations, maps and information. We cringed at the pricetag but it has been worth it

Many of you will have thumbed through Peter Harrison's 1983 classic while thinking of a pelagic boat trip or just after one or standing on a wind swept coast peering out to sea. Harrison's guide was the go to if not the only guide available for certain sea birds. Now 40 years later he has painstakingly reworked the entire guide with new plates, much updated taxonomy and new references. Taking the approach of the classic modern field guide the plates are to the right and details of the species to the left with the range maps. Much of the art work is updated and contributed to by Hans Larsson, the renown Swedish artist. Overall this is huge leap forward given the grand scope of taxonomic upheaval over the last 40 years. As the name implies it is more of a new ID guide rather than an updated version as so much has changed from the original. It has been a long time coming but a welcome new addition to the avian ID guide field.

Great book and Fast and efficient delivery, when coming from Germany. Would definitely use them again.

Ad oggi la MIGLIOR guida da campo su uccelli marini del mondo! Le tavole del grandissimo HANS LARSSON, dai gabbiani alle anatre marine ecc sono semplicemente magistrali e mozzafiato ! Hans è un mago davvero. Le altre tavole, quelle dell'autore e illustratore Harrison di GRAN LUNGA meno belle e accurate, quasi cartoon, ma cmq utili e con tanti piumaggi. CONSIGLIATA a tutti gli appassionati di ornitologia
