Easy to install, good genuine LG blu-ray player
Worked flawlessly upon installation. The drive isn't as loud as I expected when reading disks. I don't intend on using it to burn or rip anything, but I suspect it will be louder in those scenarios. It's a bit expensive, and while I could get a cheaper drive overseas, I feel safer getting a genuine LG blu-ray drive shipped from a company based in the US instead. You may need to have some knowledge on how to install a drive like this, because the item doesn't ship with instructions or screws. It's just the blu-ray drive. But if you know what you're doing, it's easy to install, and it's almost plug and play. You just need a decent blu-ray player software to watch anything. I recommend Leawo.

Good BluRay drive at a reasonable price
I bought this drive to upgrade my PC to be able to read BluRay disks. I have another older PC with this same drive in it and it has worked perfectly since it was installed several years ago. This drive in the version I bought came as an OEM package, without any software. Windows 11 recognized it right away. Installation ease depends on your case. My case happens to be tool free so it just slid in and I had to latch two retainers to lock it in, and plug in the cables. If your case has a location that makes reaching the sides for screw attachment difficult it will be harder to install. Testing revealed that the drive could read both DVD disks and BluRay disks but the PC wouldn't play BluRay movies. After a bit of research I found that Microsoft quit including the ability to play BluRay disks in Windows. I searched online and found some free software that worked just fine. LG has announced it will stop producing BluRay players, like you hook up to your PC, in 2024. They feel that streaming has reduced the need for BluRay players. I don't know if this applies to PC drives as well. I do know it's getting harder to get a PC case that has bays for optical drives. In summary, if you need a reliable optical drive I can recommend this one. If you feel that you need an optical drive check the general availability of these drives so you can get one of any brand before they are discontinued.

The drive is just as described on Amazon. It did take a long time to get to me but was well packed and is working fine.

What Is This??!!
This obviously some kind of returned item. Wrapped in old bubble wrap and sealed with packing tape. In a generic cardboard box. Not the new item I was led to believe I was buying.

Good burner
It works as advertised. It burns and plays. I couldn't test the speed, but it wrote at the speed of my disc's.

It works great but is way too loud, but I’m gonna continue to use it only when necessary

The LG HLDS WH16NS58DUP is a real good writer. I will definitely buy another one.
The The LG HLDS WH16NS58DUP works real well for what it was made for. I also have the LG WH16NS40 writer. They both work exceptionally well. I cannot say one is better than the other since they both work flawlessly. I also have purchased the Mercury Pro external enclosure that works perfectly for both these model drives. For all my Blu-ray burning needs...I stick with the LG brand burners. They have never failed me or made a single coaster. Both these drives support burning to M-DISC. I have read M-DISCs burned with both these model drives on other blu-ray readers and they are read perfectly. As a seasoned 30+ year computer technician. I approve this message.

About 10 months after purchase, this drive has stopped working. Its just constantly flashing a blue light. The eject button is mostly non responsive. The drive is no longer recognized by the computer. Avoid at all costs.
