Organ SZ 125/20 15x1 Sewing Machine Needles 130/705 705H Leather Denim Sunbrella

I watched a YouTube video on making masks where a guy recommended using denim needles to easily go through the many layers that quality handcrafted masks require. Once I switched to these needles, I had very few problems sewing through 5 layers of cotton and interfacing - it struggled a bit with 7 layers (adding the side stirrups for the elastic) but that may be because my sewing machine did not have much clearance and it is a basic machine so not a lot of power. I think the needles would have powered through on a better quality sewing machine. These are a great value - I can sew over 200 masks before it shows any sign of dulling. When I was learning I lost a few when using a wider stitch and it just bent the needles - it didn’t break - so these are very strong needles!

I mostly sew outdoor gear using multiple layers of synthetic canvas, oftentimes up to 340gsm/10oz weight and frequently 4-6 layers are involved in the hems. The thread I'm using is 210D bonded nylon or polyester, depending on the product. That's a very demanding situation for a sewing machine. I've tried a variety of needles on these fabrics with mixed results. When I tried these needles it immediately became obvious they were superior to the two top-shelf brands I was using before. They penetrate much easier and the eye of the needle is easier on the thread, so less fraying. 5 stars for a solid product at a reasonable price.

High price for regular point sewing machine needles. As they were advertised for leather I expected to get chisel point.

SZ 125/20 ORGAN 15x1 Sewing Machine Needles 130/705 705H Leather Denim Sunbrella are the strongest needles that will fit in a Janome HD3000. These needles made doing Sunbrella patches on my boat doable... Won't do thick leather. Heavier duty needles have round shanks and will not fit in most good home level machines.
