I got this because I have a projector that is on the other side of the living room than my laptop. This allows me to connect from far away. You can also use it to cast your phone to your TV - lots of other things. > Works great - easy setup. Works right out of the box. > perfect streaming/casting. No jitter or lag. > if your using this for casting from your phone - I used it with my Galaxy S10 and it worked great. > 1080P. OVERALL - this is the perfect solution for anyone needing to connect a device from far away. Nice quality, well made, works great and easy setup.

I picked this to stream from one of my laptops to a TV in the guest room. I also thought that it would work nicely in hotels where I don't have to setup the laptop and attach it to the TV. There are a few things wrong with my use cases and I struggled to actually use this product (however its not really the products fault). First of all the "transmitter" is a USB-C device that requires USB-C DP Alt-mode. This means that many AMD laptops will not work with this and some Intel ones will also not work. It also means that most desktops will not work either. Secondly the system uses a 5ghz wifi mesh network; this does "transmit through walls" but that is in quotations for a reason. To actually maintain a full 1080p signal; you need to be in the same room (at least in a concrete florida home) or at least right on the other side of the wall. I didn't have much luck from room to room as the signal gets choppy FAST. Lastly the USB-C dongle eats up the battery on my laptop and gets quite hot in practice. So the use cases are more limited by the fact that I couldn't just carry the laptop around and use it as I pleased. However when I am in the same room; the picture is smooth and full featured.

This extender works great. The 3-star rating is for not including the usb-extension cable. This transmitter usb dongle is so bulky that it blocks off my second usb-c port on my mac. It was painful having to try multiple usb hubs to to use this. The final solution that worked was a Thunderbolt 3 USB extension cable from Basesailor Store.

Problem definition: I sit on my living room couch, with my laptop on my lap, and I want to send the picture/audio on my TV 10 feet away. Theoretical solution: stream the HDMI video output wirelessly to the TV. Practical solution: use the OREI Wireless HDMI Transmitter and Receiver combo. This product works great. I am able to stream video and audio to any monitor/TV/Projector that has an HDMI port. It's simple to use and completely plug n' play. You connect the transmitter to your USB-C port (it has to support monitor/display port on that USB-C), connect the monitor via HDMI to the receiver, plug in the power adapter and your all set. I didn't notice any lag or other issues, except a little bit of a video sharpness degradation. It might be related to my TV, though, and frankly it doesn't really bother me. So yeah, if you want to transmit your HDMI connection wirelesly then the OREI system is the way to go. Recommended.

This is a nicely designed little transmitter that gets the job done! It feels like a quality design, not cheap, and yet is fairly lightweight for moving around if you need it placed in different locations, which is my case when I go from Living Room television watching and want to throw something up on the TV from my Laptop, or for having friends over for a gaming session. It is super easy to set up and use, pretty much a plug and play item. Whether for movies, projection, or gaming, I haven’t found any noticeable lag, which is an important factor for all three. I haven’t used it with my phone yet, however, with the success I’ve had for other uses, I don’t expect that there will be any issues.
