How To Cheat In Photoshop CC: The art of creating realistic photomontages

Still the best introduction to Photoshop. Get fast results!
I had to buy the book again because I lost it in a move. I tried many other Photoshop books, some from the library. Nobody gets faster and better to the point than Steve Caplin. I need PS for my architectural work. I don't have much time to mess around with every single option.I worked through the first chapters. It's a good base to understand the program and then I picked through the book for the stuff that I needed. He has some discussion about related subjects on the sideline or at the beginning of every chapter. I enjoy those as well. Thanks Steve Caplin for the best introduction to Photoshop!

The latest in a great series
Good news mostly. A touch of bad news (thus one less star). This series started off long ago (okay, not in a galaxy far far away) giving great tips on quick and dirty collages that looked professional while taking far less effort than the "classic" approaches promoted at the time (thus "cheating"). The tone has morphed somewhat with the focus more on creating "realistic photomontages," albeit still in an efficient manner. As a poor sod trying to crank out numerous edited photos, I miss the older tone, but it's probably unfair to penalize Steve Caplin for his excellent and professional (and *not* bloated) approach to photo editing. I might add that though Steve focuses on Photoshop, I have migrated to Affinity Photo, yet still find the great majority of his tips to be highly appropriate.Okay, well in the spirit of fairness, I may wait a week and then change my review to five stars. In any case, don't miss the opportunity to have this book in your library.

A great reference for PS CC
This book has so many good tips. I bought it for a class, didn't really end up needing it, but kept it anyways because it's a pretty good resource. I know we live in an age where we can just Google anything we have a question about, but sometimes it seems I can't quite word my inquiry properly and I'm left frustrated. This book fills in the gaps. As a side note, the accompanying videos are hilariously awful. They also contain good info, but the editing is quite amusing. I recommend this book if you are like me and prefer to have a physical reference available in addition to the Internet.

The only photoshop book I keep on my desk instead of my bookshelf
I’ve bought dozens of photoshop books over the years, but this series has always been the most useful, hands down. It’s the only book I keep on my desk for regular reference.

any Photoshop user knows their a several ways to get the same results and that's what i like about Steve Caplin's books
I have been using Photoshop as far back as 5.0 . There has been a lot of changes in the program since then and I've had to change my ways of doing things quite often. any Photoshop user knows their a several ways to get the same results and that's what i like about Steve Caplin's books. He shows you his shortcuts and keeps you updated with the new Photoshop techniques. I still use some of my old ways of doing things that work better for me. But have found out over the years that you will never stop learning.

The book is good for people who are not familiar with Photoshop
The book is good for people who are not familiar with Photoshop, but the concept shows its age. It is in line of :"How to cheat in..." books of the same author (I purchased one in 2010). I expected more about the art of creative photography, like in "100% Photoshop" from the same author. Online (YT) Photoshop content on creative photography is better and more actual.

A fun and valuable book
It's a great book for doing really cool things with Photoshop. I consider it to be an intermediate to advanced level. Beginners may need a bit of help with it. I don't mind that the CC version is similar to the CS6. There are a few new exercises to show off the latest features, but having a lot of similarity means that my students can buy older versions and still keep up. My students understand layer masks much better with his great exercises. I love the videos though it might be nice if you could see the menus.

Five stars, as simple as that
Excellent book and from an Englishman, which means he doesn't, a point he makes clear, use the word 'pants' for 'trousers'. (Someone else wrote a photoshop book which all through it uses 'em instead of them, which meant I totally won't buy it, no matter how good it is. I spend ages telling my child to speak English correctly or else don't bother, so same rules apply to me too). So it is nice to hear English as it was meant to be spoken. So to the book it's self. Well the author has amassed nearly all the photos he uses on to a web site and allows you to download them and follow through his lessons. And that works very well. There are also videos, (five hours worth), which you have to watch on the webpage, but again, these help very much in what is for a lot of people a steep learning curve. I brought three books to learn with, and by far the best is this one. You do have to have some experience with photoshop, if you are a beginner then there is a lot you won't know. This is after all not a manual on using photoshop but really how to do photomontages, or compositing. There are other online resouces to help you. I have paid for and downloaded some of them and they are very good, but sometimes you just need a hard copy, something you can flip open and simply see and read how to do a certain action. Video is good for that, but it is clumsy, so while I have them and use them, I like to work my way through a book like this.Steve is a good teacher, the videos especially have a relaxed easy tone in the way he delivers them, you feel he is there, almost. So if you want to learn how to create photomontages then I would have to say this book is the pick of the bunch. Excellent and works very well for me. Five stars, as simple as that.

Fantastic book - great content - never closed!
Great book! - full of nice tips and key shortcuts for both Mac and Windows. I brought this book after seeing Steve at my local Camera Club in Bracknell, He did a whistle stop set of 2 minute sessions that just produced amazing results in no time at all.It was hard to keep up, so I ordered this book . . .and I am not disappointed by its content - its rare that I don't have it open at some page or another when I am processing now. The link to the YouTube site is also great with new '2 minute' content appearing frequentlyThank you for such an intuitive set of instruction on Photoshop !
