I'm in the process of growing out my hair after a bleach damage DISASTER almost a year ago. My 2b/2c hair is extremely dry, coarse, damaged and brittle. Any sort of shampoo, even low poos and very mild surfactants, makes my hair feel like straw and turns it into a complete tangled mess. This shampoo is so good that I can run my fingers through my hair as I rinse it out, something I've never been able to do with shampoo. It's very thick like honey and lathers very well so a little goes a long way. I have long hair and I use maybe 2 pumps. My hair is wavy and I find this doesn't weigh it down at all, but my hair is also very thirsty and porous. This is the ONLY shampoo I will use between clarifying as it does not strip or tangle my hair and also effectively cleans it. It smells heavenly too. For those with coarse damaged hair I highly reccomend adding the hair oil to your routine as well.

Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla smells amazing and works great on different hair textures, keeping both my and my husband's (different hair types, curly multi-ethnic and curly caucasian) hair healthy. It is also gentle on my sensitive skin. It lasts awhile because don't need to use a lot when shampooing. I did not think I'd find a budget-friendly shampoo that is sulfate-free and good for my curly hair, and I never thought I'd care enough to have a "favorite" shampoo--Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla has become my favorite shampoo. Update: I still like Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla, but unfortunately it does not work as well with the high iron city water where I live now. I still use it when I am visiting somewhere else. Also, maybe I am more use to it now, but I don't think it smells as amazing as I first thought. I am dropping it one star since I can't use it with my current water and the scent is now subtle.

I have dry hair and this shampoo has various oils in it that help moisturize.

This shampoo is fantastic, especially when used with the Carol’s Daughter shampoo. With only a few pumps from this bottle is covers your whole head. It’s very easy to use and when you finally rinse it out you can feel the dirt and from washing out. After awhile you start to notice how healthy your hair starts to get. I’ve been using it for a few months and I’ve noticed my hair growing faster and that I have fewer split ends. It does such a good job of cleaning your hair that it feels almost weightless when you rinse it.

This shampoo washes well but that is about it. I like that it is sulfate free (it says on the bottle other things it's free of) but there are still some ingredients in this product that are harmful for hair in long-term use. It made my hair smell amazing and made it feel soft. It was easy to use and it didn't make my hair feel heavy or anything. Didn't leave hair feeling tangled. It wasn't moisturizing but it didn't dry out my hair either, I only used one bottle but I don't think I'd ever purchase again just because I have found something that's more natural and works better.

I'm not really the target audience for this shampoo (white and male), but I've been having lots of issues with hair breakage once I started growing my hair out, as well as the contradiction of having hair that is straight but also curly once it reaches a certain length. My previous hair care routine revolved around argan oil and I was very underwhelmed. I switched to Carol's Daughter back in November and my hair is in much better shape. I still lose just as many strands as before, but I have noticeably more volume and my curls are much more intact. I'm getting compliments on my hair again, which is nice. Another benefit is that the scent is wonderful. I try to avoid scents in my hygiene products but this time I decided to deal with it, and I'm glad I did. It smells like how summer feels.
