Altra Footwear LP Alpine

I purchased for my husband as a work shoe. His workplace is pretty casual but sneakers are not acceptable footwear. These have more of a shoe look and pass just fine as casual shoes fir his workplace. They are comfortable and lots of room in the toe-box. He’s up and down and does some walking throughout his day.

The zero drop shoes by Altra are perfect. The wide toe box gives Mt feet room to spread out and be in a very comfortable position. I use the Altras everyday as well as for walking...8-10 miles per day. No lower back pain, no foot pain, and ready to go day after day. No other shoes has done this for me.

These are very comfortable shoes with a very low drop/rise. That said they are a bit clunky in terms of looks and feel. The material used for the fabric (non leather) sections of the shoe tends to wrinkle easily and is a lot like canvas rather than some newer more high tech material you'd expect of a shoe at this pricepoint. I also ordered this mistakenly believing it was at least slightly water resistant. That is important to me given where I live and the amount of hiking/running/walking I do after a rain. I suppose I was fooled by the shoe's name having "Alpine" in it and being a trail shoe. Unfortunately they are probably the least water resistant shoes in my closet. Hence they have been relegated to 'walking around' shoes and travel. All in all I cannot recommend these due to there being other equally good Altra shoes elsewhere in the line - UNLESS - you plan to use them for walking while traveling or just having a decent looking comfortable pair of sneakers to wear around.

My second pair of these. Wore the first pair out. Use them for daily walks on a mix of trails and roads. I was having knee problems with other shoes because I was buying wide sizes to get a wide toebox but losing stability in the heel. As soon as I started wearing these my knee issues cleared up. The only downside is the high cost but worth it for me.

Fore someone with wide feet (I have EEE), these fit really well, plenty of room for my toes to splay. The shoe is light weight, big plus. They're breathable but still somehow manage to keep water and moisture out. Really good traction. A little bit of minimal feel as well as some gentle cushioning. I am so happy with this shoe and purchase.

I get so many comments about my shoes and then people realize they are Altras and love them even more. As with my other Altras, I can wear them all day and feel comfortable in them. The only thing I struggle with is the cost but they were a birthday gift so I’m happy! I don’t know if I would have spent that much on a casual shoe myself. They are pretty light colored so make sure to invest in a good suede cleaning kit and waterproofing. Well worth the extra few dollars to make sure they stay looking nice longer.
