I would like to use to make self watering moss poles. Do you think it will mildew and work properly? Thank you for your feedback.

It certainly did hold the water as intended. Not sure about the mildew issue. Anything that does not get much sunlight is subject to mildew/mold. Might be worth the try.

Will this wick excess water out of the pot?

I have not had the problem of water going from the pot to the water container even when the water container is dry. I don't think the soil would be wet enough for it to act as a wick.

Will this work for a tree planted outdoors?
