I got this to get my 3 year old started. I picked this model of the many Zebcos for kids because I liked that there was a clip at the base of the grip that you could tether the rod to something in case a kid tosses it. It's a durable fiberglass rod that seems like it will hold up well to kid abuse. My one problem with it is the fact that it really cannot handle much more than tiny pan fish. We hooked a mid sized crappie that pulled hard enough such that the drag did nothing. Also hooked a decent sized largemouth and the rod could do next to nothing to even remotely control the fish. This isn't a problem with the rod, more so my application how I'm using it.... but my message to prospective purchasers is that this rod puckers out on anything larger than very small panfish.

It's reeled in multiple trout of all different sizes, very light but very durable, easy to carry about, i love the plastic on it, still use it and keep it in my car

Took a vacation to a cabin, and wanted a little rod real combo so my son could try fishing. Didn't want to spend a lot of money in case he didn't like it. This little rod is great. Easy to cast the reel is nice and smooth. We never had any snarls in the line, - I remember when I was a kid my reel used to always be a snarled mess somehow. He really enjoyed his fishing experience so I will probably replace the fishing line with something higher quality moving forward, but it worked just fine to catch perch and some small rock bass off the dock.
