NERO 9 RELOADED
Having used Nero 7 previously on a PC using Windows XP as its operating system and not having any problems, I bought Nero 9 Reloaded for a new PC running Windows 7 Professional.I followed all of the Nero installation advice even loading all of the recomended install of programmes & downloaded as recomended the updates (quite a large file some 300 MB). I tried the Cd & DVD burning software, none of it worked properly and I wasted several CDs & DVDs trying various combinations, nor did the other programmes included work either. The computer also developed a marked slowing of its operations all round.I uninstalled the complete Nero 9 and installed just the Burning part which I really only wanted, without updates & it runs very well. So much for Nero 9 reloaded tested for windows 7. In my experience (and others I have noticed since, on various forums), Nero need to try harder, especially at the price), if you want a burning software other than that offered by the inbuilt Windows 7 one which works well but doesn't offer the verify part that Nero does, then it works. But forget the rest of the included software. Nero help never responded to my requests for help either.

Nero 9 reloaded
When I found, my older Nero did not work on Windows 7, I naturally had to find another means of replacing my older Nero7.After completing my own research, I decided, Nero still offered the best for me. However, reading various reports on the Amazon site, I did not want to order Nero 9 reloaded, with the remaining question; would it work.I went to WWW. nero.com and downloaded Nero 9 reloaded. (15 day free trial) It worked great. I am over the moon with it.I mainly use it to remove adverts from documentries etc, and Nero recode; will allow you to shrink a video; and allow you copy a film to disc.I find Nero excellant for placing photos on to CD/DVD, but music, I normally use Media player; it all comes down to what you get used to?Having tried many functions on Nero 9 reloaded, I then placed an order with Amazon.I am used to Nero, but what about the beginner? I can't confirm it yet, but I am certain you get an instruction booklet when you purchase the Nero disc, but if you download the free trial, for the beginner, it looks daunting. The good news is: when you open Nero, you will notice top left; a white icon. Click this, and this will allow you to view, or download video footage; on how to use the programme.In the book section of Amazon, is the book: "Nero 7 Cd and DVD burning made easy" by Wallace Wang This is a good book to have: OK; Nero 9 differs from Nero7, but the format remains the same.For editing, I feel Nero is the best. Nero 9 Reloaded .... bloated no more than previous releases
Installation was easy enough, although took a good thirty minutes to complete. I have found while using on my iMac via BOOT CAMP and Windows 7 Pro that it is no slower than a version of Nero 7 running on a Dell VISTA based laptop. Some say Nero 9 is bloated and slows the system down ... sure the software has many different apps, probably some or maybe many you will not use but there is always custom install, just because it's there you don't have to install it. Nero does tend to give the user more than they need or want ... but this is nothing new as each subsequent release is the same.I've had no problems with the software, no crashes, no coasters although it did take a while to get used to the interface and its layout, it is very different from Nero 7 but equally as easy to use once you become familiar with the interface and layout. For people just wanting basic burning facilities there are much cheeper ways to go RealPlayer being a good alternative or free in VISTA and W7All in all I'm very happy with the product

Flawed software which could break a novice's heart
Once installed Nero Express and the other Burning modules work properly, however, I found a lot of difficulty installing this software. It failed again and again and that after hours of waiting. Eventually by searching online forums I discovered the fault is with the backitup and burn it software which comes with it, and I had to find the individual modules for Nero express etc in the disc and these did install with no problems. (Thankfully I already had trueimage 10 back up software which works properly.) It seems that Nero know of the problem with the backitup and burn it software but are not ready it patch it as yet

A Difficult Upgrade
Like others, I found that with switching my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7, my Nero 7 Premium also has had to be replaced. The nice simple familiar Nero 7 interface has been replaced by something less user friendly.My first chore was to burn an ISO image to disc. Nothing in the PDF Guide. Eventually putting the problem into Google brought up a solution from someone who has had the same problem. Talk about going round the houses to get to the solution!

Bitter disappointment
Nero 9 Reloaded with XP SP3I wish I hadn't bought and installed this. Now I can't even go back to my previous version (6) of Nero which is much better. There are so many problems with Nero 9 Reloaded that I can't cover everything here. In general:1) All of the application components are too slow to start.2) There is precious little more flexibility than there was with Nero 6, just more features to bloat it out.3) It takes longer than Office 2007 Professional to install, and just as long to uninstall (Which I did to try and return to Nero 6, but now that will not install).4) The online update is a joke! The links don't work, and when you go there manually you get full downloads (see installation time above) not updates. And that's when the problems really started and I had to uninstall.I would give this a zero star rating, but the minimum allowed is 1.

Still the best
I've been using version 6 for the last few years but upgraded to v9 as I'm now using Windows 7.As I do a lot of video editing I still find that Nero is the best when it comes to burning on to DVD. The DVD maker on Windows 7 is useless in my opinion. Freeware and shareware programs are okay but I find you don't get that professional finish that I like with Nero.
