Cannabis Policy: Moving beyond stalemate

An outstanding piece of scholarship. Created with a measured understanding of the failure of international cannabis control policies and recognizing the need for fresh thinking on the subject, this report commissioned by the Beckley Foundation lays out a very reasonable approach to reforming the international prohibition on cannabis under the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs and subsequent treaties. Informed by science rather than hysteria, this report does not sugarcoat the risks associated with cannabis use, but places the use of the drug in its proper context with other substances such as tobacco and alcohol that our society has chosen to regulate. My only quibble with this fine work are a few typos I found sprinkled throughout. Excellent choice for policymakers hoping to deal with this issue on a regional level within the context of its global impact.
