Sharp details and well thought out design for trouble-free construction!
THIS KIT IS EXTREMELY WELL MADE. The details and panel lines are sharp and true to scale. And all the parts are "keyed" in various ways to prevent mismatching or misaligning pieces. That's helpful because the kit has many parts that appear to be identical but are actually a little different from each other. The kit doesn't require painting but uses an extensive set of water-slide decals to provide most of the color scheme needed for Luke's "Red-5" X-wing right down to the smallest details! The kit also comes with "peel n' stick" markings for less experienced builders.Although the instructions for the model are numbered, step-by-step illustrations, they can still be hard to understand for beginners. So younger builders may need some help to figure out the placement and orientation of parts.GLUEINGNo glue is required, but it might be a good idea to have some available just in case. But make sure to test fit each piece before pressing it into place and cementing.PAINTINGNot all the parts are molded in their correct colors. For builders that want a model that looks more like the movie prop and less like a toy, consider painting and weathering some of the features.DECALSIf you plan to use decals make sure you look over the instructions several times to understand the location and orientation of each decal. You'll find it much easier to decal and weather parts as the build progresses rather than waiting until the entire kit is completed. (You can also apply decals and weather some of the parts while they are still attached to the runners)

X-Wing Amazing detail
First you need to understand this is a highly detailed Model with some very small parts, and if you understand that then you will need a Magnifying glass and some tweezers. They do not disappoint as it comes with an optional stand and 2 sets of emblems/decals to affix (water and stickers). I elected to use cement glue as it's pretty easy for the snap on pieces to come off when handling. My only complaints are that; I hoped it was bigger but it wasn't it was very accurate for the small size. The Directions are absolutely Horrible for this, as an intermediate Model builder I'll be the first to admit I needed to read them 3-5 times and it comes with 2 ways to build it. I'm a huge Star Wars fan and who knew Luke's Xwing was different than the others beside the color. Now where I draw the line is the fact it comes with R2-D2 and BB-8. BB-8 was not invented until the newer Xwings were released, so I can see putting it in there for Poe's but I didn't buy it for that. The decals are so accurate that placing the rebel decal on the helmet inside of the cockpit of a small model made my eyes water so bad from squinting that I asked myself "WHO" would ever know if I dotted it with a RED marker. Giftable? Yes, but you should know your target before you ever hand them something this detailed and small.

Fun Build - No Glue Required
The finished model is incredibly sturdy with no glue required whatsoever. Although if you do have good modeling glue I think you could benefit from gluing down a few the smaller pieces. You don't need much experience with creating models to build this x-wing, the instructions are pictographic (think Lego or IKEA) so it's easy to follow, patience and a good pair of pliers is really all you need. The finished ship is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, but it is a great size and the level of detail is really great. None of the pieces are painted outside of a standard white color but if you don't have experience painting models and want the x-wing to look colorful, the included sticker set can really add a whole other layer of detail. The stickers can be tricky to apply and I found that the best way to do it was using tweezers, especially for some of the smaller ones, but the finished product really looks great even without paint. You have the option of building the x-wing with or without landing gear, though it is easy to switch between the two modes. Definitely recommend for someone who's a fan of the series.

Great collectible
Bought it a Christmas gift, and my uncle loved it. It has its own stand and it feels heavy and great quality. It had a lot of detail and was very good. It was okay considering the value, there are cheaper options but not as heavy and detailed.

Fun model for a 10-year-old but not all pieces fit together just right
Last year, we bought the comparable TIE Fighter model for our son. He loved putting it together with me. This year, we got the X-wing and had a lot of fun assembling it. Overall it went together well, but someone on their design team was quite optimistic about putting stickers that small onto this model. The instructions are good for this age range, if a child is reasonably good at following instructions in general. The only other thing I noted is that the cannons on the wings were not particularly easy to assemble. There were some pieces that required modifications to fit together. This requires an adult level of skill and manual dexterity. But that aside, it's an attractive model that young Star Wars fans will be enjoy assembling.

Muy buen modelo del X-Wing para empezar
Es el primer modelo que hago y fue una gran experiencia, las instrucciones son fáciles de seguir aunque colocar las calcomanías es un infierno pero el resultado es muy bueno.

Easy to assemble
A childhood friend of my son’s passed away. Both avid Star Wars fans. My son wanted to engulf that bond in a funeral arrangement for his friend. I searched online and saw this XWing that we could put on top of a funeral standind easel spray but I failed to read the fine print. Imagine my surprise when I got a very thin box, opened it up to fine hundreds of pieces. I started at 7 PM and it was finished at 3:00 AM. I did the best that I could. The biggest challenge was not being able to see the fine print. I’m 70 years old. I was surprised how well it came together. The pieces snap together. Note to self: Must read fine print before ordering.
