If I loved it any more, I'd have to marry it!
This is the slicer I've been looking for! While a half shade under true restaurant or industrial grade, this is far and away a much better and long lasting alternative to the vast majority of available "home" grade devices. It is precise and effortless in its cuts and runs whisper quiet. It even has a built in sharpener which is easy to use and keep the blade at peak performance.I'm one of those who wants roast beef, corned beef, pork and hard sausages thin, thin, thin for sandwiches. Nothing worse than taking a bite of your sandwich and having all the meat slide out at once, is there? Even the toughest cuts are much more manageable. Needless to say, you'll breeze through fruits and vegetables. I haven't tried any cheeses yet, but I can't see them being much of an issue, either.A few tips and words of caution:1. You MUST purchase and wear cut resistant gloves whenever you remove or replace the blade for cleaning. (The operative word here is "resistant.") The blade MUST have your complete attention while handling whenever it is detached from the device. Always be aware of where the blade is located while out of the device! A simple bump, brush or drop could prove quite dangerous. Try to find gloves that fit snugly so there's no slippage between the material and your fingers while in use.2. Clean the device THOROUGHLY after every use. With a minimum of practice, breakdown, cleaning and reassembly can be completed in less than 30 minutes. While there are those who say you can clean the device without removing the blade, I'm not one of them. I suggest you clean the device complete without removing the blade, then remove it and see what you missed. (Ewwww!!)3. Lubricate! You'd be amazed how much dust and dirt can accumulate on the 2 operative slides over time. Before use, wipe the slide bars down with a clean cloth, then apply a tiny amount of food grade lubricant and work the slides back and forth a few times. Do this religiously, and you'll expend less effort while cutting, as well as not pushing the device around the counter while you work.4. It's heavy! This ain't no Easy Bake oven, my friends. It's a precision tool which is well crafted and substantial. While not excessively so, it could prove quite cumbersome to move for someone of slighter stature. Before purchasing, note the weight and decide how and where it "fits in" with your kitchens dynamics. That's it! All I've got. Hope it helps you make a slightly more informed decision.

What a beast
I've had a few less expensive cutters, but the don't hold a candle to the Beswood. This is just quality, near commercial quality. We've used this a ton since we purchased before the Holidays, sandwich meats, cheese, and my favorite, Bacon. 3mm bacon is perfect, and this has made the process so much easier after curing 10lbs at a crack.. My only beef with the slicer is the clean up, but thats literally every slicer. Took a little effort to get the blade off the first time as it likes to rotate as you try to loosen. If you put the sharpener attachment on and hold the button, that helps hold the blade in place so you can loosen the bolts.. You really have to remove the blade to get it clean anyway, so figure it out, just be careful that blade is heavy and sharp, do not drop on your feet.. eeek.. Highly recommend, this thing is so much better than any <200$ slicer we've ever tried.

Some quality issues.
I purchased this slicer for home use, mostly slicing meats for jerky or sandwiches, and vegetables. As a slicer it works great. I get consistent slices from partially frozen meats, and can slice vegetables tissue thin. It is a bit of a chore to clean, but I think that is an issue with slicers in general. I gave this 4 stars because of a quality issue I noted when cleaning it. First, the knobs on the sliding table and blade guard were unbelievably tight. I was afraid of breaking something trying to loosen them. When I removed the sliding tray for cleaning, it was difficult to slide apart. The casting was very rough and unfinished and the area around the threaded insert badly cracked. (See picture.) For the price of this thing, I would expect a better finish. I am hoping that this doesn't fail, because otherwise I like the slicer.

Truely quiet slicer
Purchased the 9" a month ago and finally found a quiet slicer ! We've tried 2 others just under this price range with disappointing results. 3rd times a charm. We slice only semi-frozen chicken breast in large quantities 3-4 times a week, lasting 1-1 1/2 hours. Its so nice not having a headache or ringing in the ears. This one has a very low hum, we can easily listen to TV, radio and most important talk/communicate with each other. It effortlessly cuts the meat and is amazingly sharp as other have mentioned. I highly suggest cutting gloves, especially when cleaning. Because of our application it gets messy, so I do need to remove the blade each time to fully clean it. No biggie as I had to do that with our previous slicer anyway. All in all, definitely worth spending the extra $50. Highly recommend it.

Ya Gotta Invest if Ya Wanna Get the Bes(wood)!
I've been wanting a meat slicer for years. I would look for various models on Amazon, hoping to see the most perfectly-reviewed model, all to no avail. I didn't want to buy a slicer and then come to regret the decision. I finally pulled the trigger and bought the Beswood meat slicer. Glad I did! At first I was hesitant to buy a brand I've never even heard of, much less spend more money than I had planned, but I now realize that I paid for a quality product. The blade is sharp as hell, and it cuts meat, cheese, veggies, bread, etc., with the greatest of ease. The motor is powerful and whisper-quiet. The machine is stable and sturdy. The adjustable blade will slice your foods paper thin OR about a 1/2 inch thick, and all thicknesses in between. Granted, cleaning it takes a bit of time, as there are only a few removable parts. The blade, the sharpener attachment, the "pusher", the deflector--these all can be removed and washed in the sink. The other parts simply have to be wiped/cleaned by hand. I purchased a bottle of Foodservice spray cleaner, just to make sure I get it completely sanitized. All in all, I am glad I spent the extra money and invested in a kitchen tool that will be useful today and to my kids for a long time to come.
