Pioneer does not disappoint
This receiver was a bit difficult to install. The way the speaker wires connect is not well placed but hopefully I am done with that now. Also I used the automatic setup but was not happy with the results. I did a manual setup and now this thing sounds good! I am extremely happy with the sound and function. I replaced an old Onkio receiver that had quit working and this one blows that one out of the water. This Pioneer will play all the speakers when listening to music which always irritated me about the Onkio not doing that. I still have my same speakers and the sound is crisp and clear and loud. Up to 50 the volume is pretty low and gradual adjust which is nice for listening low but top level 50 and it gets loud fast. My ears can only handle up to 68 and then its too loud. I seriously couldn't be more happy. This thing surpasses my expectations. Very happy with my purchase. It even has an rf remote and dual zone speaker output if I want to put speakers in a different room or on the deck. The display is clear and not too busy with a dimmer on it. Where I have it its not very visible but is a good looking receiver I wouldn't mind having prominently visible. Very glad I picked this Pioneer out.

Great all around receiver
This is a great receiver I love the sound I've had it running pretty much every day since I purchased it. but almost need a college education to understand everything it does but once you figure it out it's worth the money!

MANY "PRO" FEATURES
coming from a sony STR DH790, i think this one is so much better, sound quality, features... I thought the integrated phono preamp was great but it is not, i was dissapointed by the sound quality, very poor... but the overall is amazingly good, built like a tank, it has a fan at the top, i do not even hear it and have not seen been activated even at very high vol and long hours listening to little vinyl collection, It does get like little warm but nothing to worry.( i get protect on the screen of my sony because it was hot!) so this pioneer has better cooling, i paired with sony cs3 7.1 and 2 subswoofers!

Best AVR!
Got the day it was released. Great sound with plenty of options. Con is trying g update. Is USB only and both times have failed with error codes. Have read the manual a couple of times, so if someone sees this and has a tip, would be much appreciated.

Buy something else and save yourself headaches.
This receiver is junk. Allegedly, it can take multiple HDMI inputs, and output that to your TV. Allegedly, it can do dolby DTS and send sound to all speakers. I bought this, and from the start it couldn't display the video properly when attached to a computer through HDMI, as it would just turn the screen to snow when you opened a streaming website. After getting ahold of Pioneer, they advised me to make a few changes, which allows it to display the video finally, but it constantly goes black and refreshes as it apparently tries to find a different mode, very annoying, but after awhile it will stop, so eventually you can watch a show. It absolutely will not put sound to the rear or side surround sound speakers. The bluetooth works fine from an android phone, but mine will never play sound from the rear speakers, which is annoying. It might work properly after firmware updates, constant resetting, and continually reconfiguring it, but after 8 hours of troubleshooting, how much more time should you have to spend setting up a device that is supposed to work. Buy another brand and move on unless you enjoy spending your time troubleshooting basic functions.

Just what I expected. Flawless operation
My unit is now two years old. It has functioned flawlessly! Took a bit to learn all the functions but it was worth it all. Quality is tops. Being able to use the 2nd amp feature has surely been useful. I have worked on pioneer equipment since the early 70’s. And they are great

Great Value
I purchased the Pioneer VSX-935 7.1 Channel Network AV Receiver to replace a Sony STR-DH790 Multi Channel AV receiver which just wasen't doing a good job of sound or video. The Pioneer has far superior sound quality and the video is even better than the Sony when using the same Sony speakers I had hooked up to the Sony Receiver. I first thought the speakers were the problem but they were fine, just the receiver was bad. Setting the system up was easy except for connecting the speaker wires but I have big fingers so that is on me I highly reccomend the Pioneer Receiver, Great Price and Great Sound/Video.

Maybe a good AV receiver!l as long as you don’t want any kind of modern connectivity.
Edited: an OK AV receiver as long as you don’t want any form of modern connectivity or remote control options. Connection was simple. Sound and video is amazing! It’s supposed to have connectivity to Alexa but that no longer works. It does have a remote app, but the app is worthless as you cannot control anything with it. Those abilities seem to have been removed in a recent “update” to the remote app :( After several months with the receiver I am now less impressed with it. Sound and video quality is OK, but who is selling an AV receiver in 2024 without some kind of remote control capability :(

Had it over 1 yr, worked reliably. Just one major issue, does not seem to play True HD from TV. So you choose Dolby Video with PCM audio (no 3D audio using TV apps) or else you can get full audio quality like TrueHD Atmos but then no HDR video (using PC media player apps). Otherwise it sounds great, with good speakers old music sounds like it was remastered. Able to hear vocals in movies so clearly. Honestly, atmos is definitely a gimmick with the speaker locations. This doesnt have enough channels, you would need more than 2 atmos speakers to get a noticable effect. For my bedroom setup though, being able to mount the side speakers in the ceiling with wires in the attic is a huge advantage over trying to figure out how to install them beside me at ear level with windows and doors everywhere. I got this from Amazon Warehouse and it was as good as new. 1 star should be removed for not playing TrueHD as many movies have it nowadays but I think this is a limitation of tv apps. Not sure if the avr passes thru 8k, I use eARC instead and don't have to worry about the age old problem of receiver compatibility with the latest codecs and Hz.
