Takeya Classic Glass Water Bottle with Silicone Sleeve, Snow/Cobalt, 16-Ounce

While Takeya does not recommend pouring hot liquids into this bottle, I verified with them that this is tempered soda-lime glass (similar to glass bakeware). It is made in Japan. So far, it has been able to withstand a few dozen fills of boiling water without breaking. This is important, as when you are traveling in some remote locations, the only way to ensure water is free of microbiological life is to either boil it or chemically treat it. To reduce my iodine intake from water treatment tablets, I usually boil my water, and pour it directly into this bottle, which disinfects the bottle.This is my favorite drinking bottle ever. I carry it inside my backpack. I don't recommend carrying clipped to an outside of the pack, as a errant hit against something hard may break the glass.

This is a nice glass water bottle. I like the lid, it's is heavy enough to spin if you give it a good flick when opening or closing. The handle drove me nuts, so I cut it off with a hot knife. It's a solid hard plastic. When drinking, the handle would spin down and catch on my chin. It also had to be moved to fit in my refrigerator water dispenser. While I was cutting off the handle, I slid the silicone cover halfway down to move it out of the way. I didn't take it off, but I could have if I wanted to. The materials it's made with look heavy duty and classy.

The covering on the glass feels sticky and is a little uncomfortable to drink from. A lot of work to clean and screw top is where your lips go so feels strange. Not worth money

I have been looking for a glass water bottle for quite some time, but was hesitant due to the break-ability of glass. A friend who had the 22 oz version of this bottle said she had dropped hers on a concrete sidewalk, and it didn't even sustain any damage! So, I bought a 16 oz one. I've had it for a few weeks now, and it's the best. The cap is easy to get on and off, and the small size is convenient on-the-go to help me keep hydrated. The silicon doesn't seem to gather dust and it's very easy to clean.

I ordered the glass water bottle because I was tired of having the metallic taste or even plastic taste (BPA free) in my water every time I drank. I has heard that glass bottles kept water tasting like water. My only hesitation was that it was glass and it would break even with the silicon sleeve on it. After using it and washing it in the dishwasher I am very happy with the way that my water tastes. So far I haven't dropped it however I will update this post if I do. I would definitely recommend this to others!

This is a great water bottle. I've been looking for a glass one for awhile. I have this thing about being able to see what's in my bottle that I'm drinking from, so the metal ones didn't work. The sleeve on the bottle makes it easy to grip and the top of the bottle has a handle which helps when I've got a hand full of other items. It's easy to clean without having to take the sleeve off. Now I feel better about not using so many plastic water bottles. It's more economical and more environmentally sound.

I purchased this water bottle specifically to keep in my car while out running errands in the Arizona heat. Based on what I've read, glass seems to be a much healthier alternative to plastic which can leach chemicals into water.The pros: It feels good in your hand, has a secure top, and comes in multiple colors.The cons: It's pretty heavy and it absolutely does NOT keep things as cold as you would think given the 'thermal' sleeve.Actually, the lack of ability to keep my drink cool is the reason for the 4 star rating rather than the 5 star rating I would have liked to give it.

I love this brand and have bought many of their products. I was a little apprehensive at first in carrying a glass water bottle for the two reasons that it could break and that it would be really heavy to carry, but neither has been the case. The sleeve helps ward off bottle damage and the weight is not bad. It took a few carries to get used to it not being as light as a plastic bottle, but it's nothing overbearing. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it can difficult to clean the inside of the bottle and getting the sleeve off is a chore.
