Purchased this for my kid at the last minute for a Christmas gift and it was very well received. Was a little tricky to put together, but in the end it’s a beautiful sculpture. Great educational tool as all the pieces are listed out in the booklet.

My small gifted son has a love of all things science and is very interested in what makes up the human body. So, we decided to try out this animal cell model as a gift to him. It came a week later in a brightly displayed box and immediately grabbed his attention. Within a few minutes he had the pieces out and was assembling the animal cell model. It really helps that not only is the box brightly illustrated but the model is as well. I think this is more than half the battle to let small children see this as a "toy" rather than a boring item for the closet. My son had fun putting in the centrioles, peroxisomes and mitochondria. The only hard part was the clear outer cover. As many other reviewers here at Amazon note, it seems difficult at first to fit in. The trick is to align the cut-out sections correctly and snap/slide one edge in first. If you do not do this, then the clear cover will seem like it does not fit. This animal cell model also has a nice display base and sits upright for easy viewing. I think this model is appropriate for children 5 and up. It would also go great as an add-on gift to a microscope. (or prepared slides) So far, my son takes it down once every week of so and plays with it and reads the accompanying data manual. And if this model spurs him to learn new words like cytoskeleton or golgi apparatus, then an added bonus. For the $13 we paid, this is a 5 star item and excellent little model!

It's a fun, colorful, educational, hand sized. Very well built, will hold up to years of handling. Very good for classroom learning or just for an inquisitive mind. Be careful with small children and around pets; small pieces can fall out easily and get lost or swallowed. I'm a little disappointed in the stand. By the pictures it looks like it will sit at an angle in the stand, but unless I'm doing something wrong, it only stands straight up vertically while in the stand. Not enough for me to be dissatisfied with the product, but maybe that's something that could be changed with later models. I suppose the vertical position is good if it's sitting high on a shelf, but if it's on a table or lower shelf, I think you would want it to sit at an angle. The pieces also fall out easily when it's at a 90 degree angle. something more like 60 or 45 would have been better.

The animal cell model is high quality for the price. The colors are vivid and it's very detailed. It's sturdy and the pieces fit nicely (except lid). It is a great visual for our biology studies and the kids love it. The only complaint I have is that the top cover does not fit correctly- it was not worth shipping back as we needed it immediately for a unit on cells, but that was a disappointment. However I would still recommend this product as it made the lesson come to life and really helped my daughter memorize the cellular structures more than any worksheet would have.

This is a great model for teaching the cell to students. Made of strong plastic that hold the parts of the cell snugly. My students love this model as they can hold and manipulate the cell and get a better understanding of how all the parts fit together and work as one. I have been using posters in the past but this 4D model really brings biology to life in a way that students can appreciate and understand. I recommend this to any educator that would like to bring biology off the page and into the hand of students. Quality of the cell is great, it has been passed through many hands and still holds together very well. The small pieces fit into the grooves with a snug fit. All in all I am very pleased.

I'm a visual person so when I was asked to teach Science I had to be sure to include visuals to help learners like me. Some kids are book people that can understand abstract things but I was one that needed to see and touch. Buying this model was a no brainer. I never mounted it on the base, instead I used it with the document camera to broadcast in full color while I first explained the parts, what they looked like and afterwards my students had opportunities to come up and interact with the model. This really helped make the Animal Cell click with my students. For activities I'd pull sticks and have kids come up to identify a part I was describing and then provide additional details. Kids loved learning cell parts and structures in this way better than the worksheet method. The colors are vibrant and the box even includes labels so you know where to replace them if you forget. Together with the classroom materials we were able to understand more fully so the kids could make their own models of the animal and plant cells for extra credit projects. First off, I was concerned about the quality of the plastic at this price point. Having received the model I can report that it is quality. The inner pieces are a slightly rubberized plastic that makes for a snug press fit for all the internal parts. The outer plastic is quite rugged. The details, overall presentation, and display stand make this almost a work of art. It comes with simple descriptions of all of the parts of the cell. I highly recommend as a instructional tool. I'm posting this review for both the plant and animal cell as I have both and give them each 5 stars. Not sure how they could improve them, especially at this affordable price point. Well done!

Es hermosa, tal cual se muestra en las imágenes. Costó un poco de trabajo insertar la tapa transparente, pensé que la pieza venía mal al no poder insertarla, sólo era cuestión de jalar un poco la parte azul para que ésta lograra entrar. Producto que vale demasiado la pena adquirir . Estoy Muy contenta con la Compra.
