Great Budget Pedals
Grand Magus: This pedal is great! Almost exactly the tone I was looking for. I was a bit hesitant on purchasing it but after reading and watching the reviews I ordered it. I can get a good 90's grunge / pop punk sound with this pedal. Overall definitely more then what I expected. The only thing I could thing would be a con is the "tone" sweep. Fangs: This pedal adds a bite to the sound, as I'm sure by the name of the pedal that's what they were going for. The reviews I read were varied but it all came down to the amp you were putting it through so I figured I'd try it. Plugged it in and started tweaking. So far the "fat" setting is my favorite. The "raw" increases the mids and the "scoop" almost removes the mids. I can dial in thrash metal / hair metal / power metal / and even get into the modern metal territory with it. It has a lot of low end and gain on tap, perfect for solo practice or dial back the low end a bit and it will fit in with drums and bass. For reference my equipment is a BOSS Katana head through a Marshall 212AR vertical cabinet.

Not bad; limited sound; not very metallic.
It has one sound. You can adjust gain and tone. Does not have that deep, silky metal sound. But ok.

Excellent distortion
I got mine mainly because it was in the price range I could afford and it's great. Better than most of the more expensive brands on the market. Great for pros and amateurs.

Best distortion pedal for the price
Bought the Grand Magus pedal after watching a few online reviews. Plugged it into both my Burgera Infinium V22 and Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and couldn't believe what I was hearing coming from a sub $60 pedal. With gain down to its lowest setting it works very nice as an overdrive. Between 11 and 3 O'clock it gives a great classic rock to 80s metal sound and above that you're in metal territory. I am actually enjoying this more than my $200 EVH 5150 pedal.

Excellent Rat type pedal
This is a Rat style circuit. The Grand Magus has a great sound. I use it both as a drive and a distortion.

A great distortion pedal in it's price class
Pros: By itself it can pull off hard rock tones and early metal. Definitely a fun pedal. Sounds great paired with the TC Electronic Rusty Fuzz. With the Rusty Fuzz in front of this distortion its easy to get bit-crusher type fuzz sounds or that overloaded tube amp icky thump fuzz. Hookups are all in the back so you can put pedals right next to each other for a tidy look. Cons: All of the smorgasbord of pedals line are bigger than your typical boss sized pedal, so if pedalboard real estate is at a premium you might consider a DS-1 instead. Doesn't quite take you into ultra-high gain pinch harmonic territory without a boost in front of it. Overall: A great sounding affordable and well-constructed pedal good for hard rock and early metal distortion. The tone isn't as shapeable as more expensive pedals like the BE-OD (which costs 3x as much).

Falls somewhere between a Rat and a Boss DS1
Sounds good. Falls in between a Rat and a Boss DS1 , more towards the DS1. Maybe just a teeny tiny bit "better" than a DS1.

Great for sludgey stonery doomy kinda heaviness. Only has bit of hissing when you max the gain out, which is pretty much par for the course with distortion pedals. I have the mooer black secret as well, and i actually prefer the grand magus, has a really good fat tone to it, very full.

Rock, hard rock. Rock progressif. Une bonne pédale de TC electronics. Utiliser de préférence un ampli a lampes.

These things are so cheap it's hard not to want to try them all, great Rat clone in a solid affordable package.

If you are a fan of a certain rodent themed drive sound, then this is for you! It definitely does the thing, and the price is amazing
