This is a great kettle. I know because I literally tried ten different kettles before I found this one. It shouldn't be hard to find a kettle that doesn't suck, but it is. This one is not perfect, but it's close. It satisfies my five basic requirements: - Red - Whistle - Handle is not awkward to hold - Whistle toggles on and off - Inside won't rust It has some nice features. The whistle sounds good. It's not terribly loud, which could be good or bad depending on your use case. It has a little silicone sleeve over the thumb lever so it doesn't burn your finger when you flick it open. The handle is comfortable and well designed. The angle is good for the whole arc of the pour, from a gentle start all the way to the last drop without the steam hitting your hand. The handle stays cool to the touch. There's nothing overtly wrong, but there are a couple of questionable things: - The bottom of the kettle bulges out, so it only sits on the middle circle. The burner on my stove that I use for the kettle is the right size, so this doesn't bother me, but if you were counting on using a larger electric burner for faster heating this could be an issue. - The inside has an odd design where there's a little gap where the bottom meets the sides that goes all the way around. It doesn't look like a defect, it's just the way it is. Obviously water doesn't leak out and the bottom is solid, so it must meet the sides somewhere, but it's out of view. This means that a little bit of water will always be sitting in that crevasse, just out of view. You're not supposed to put anything other than water in the kettle, but if you ever did you would never be able to completely clean it out. It's probably fine but it bothers me. Just a little. - The whistle is not terribly loud. It's loud enough for me, but if you want a loud whistle this isn't it. All my gripes are minor, and so far it has been an excellent kettle. I can't speak to longterm durability; my last two (Kitchenaid) kettles died from rust. I'm writing in April 2022 and I promise I'll come back and change this to one star if it rusts inside. If you still see 5 stars then it hasn't rusted yet.
