Soul of the Deep

OK! OK!!!! Listen! This story had me shook. I got Book 1 as a birthday gift and absolutely loved it. I had to RUN and purchase the second one. The way that the language was used, then seamlessly translated as part of the dialogue, was fantastic. The imagery and story telling was captivating, and the ending was spectacular. Much more realistic to the kind of driven MC this story had. I have recommended this to EVERYONE I know. If I could give more than 5 stars, I WOULD

A wonderful sequel to Skin of the Sea. Beautifully written, I didn't want it to end! Highly recommend both books in this series.

I barely had a second to breath in this story from chapter 1 till the end this second installment was fast paced and hand punch after punch. I had to lower my rating for book one because this one was so much more satisfying and entertaining than book 1 which is hard to do in writing. They both can't be 5 stars because this one blew it out the water. The action the twists and turns had me so upset and so satisfied at the same time.I did not think after book one I could be surprised but I was and Natasha Bowen tore my heart out in this one. Some of the parts I had to put the book down and breathe because I was getting so upset! I just want Simidele to be happy and be free of all the bs that she has been dealing with. So much of the consequences fall on her to fix.I would love to see another installment of this series following one of the other Mami Wata. This series will definitely be on my reread list.

The monster scene was thrilling and the war scene was bloody. I was so engrossed I forgot how much legend and tradition of West Africa inspired the story. The research was seamless. SOUL of the DEEP was a satisfying and sweet ending for Simi and Kola and yet Simi keeps her independence.
