What a great ebike
Really happy with our purchase of the Snapcycle R1. It's a very high-quality bike. The weld quality and the component selection seems excellent. Assembly was easy. The assembly video is a bit of date -- there have been changes to some of the components that are not reflected in the video (the component changes are improvements!).

Back wheel does not stay on.
The media could not be loaded. Back tire comes off while riding. Very dangerous and poor design.

Great bike, great features, great ride
I'm 6' and used to riding a fat bike on a 21" frame. The frame on the R1 is a little small for me but then that's pretty much the case with every bike I buy. My knees come up over the handlebars when pedaling. If I raise the saddle so it's more comfortable to pedal, I have too much weight on my wrists when riding. It's great they list the fit measurements in the listing but when dimensions are an inch or two different, it's hard to tell exactly how that will impact the overall fit. An adjustable handlebar stem might help as I've had to do that with other bikes to get a comfortable fit. I also had trouble getting the rear rack on. The alignment to the mounting screws was off about a centimeter. Almost like the assembly warped while it was being welded together. I had to insert a few bolts on one side and then force the thing into position to get the last bolt in. Not a great install feature. Threads get seized and stripped that way, especially in aluminum. I was impressed that Snapcycle used stainless steel bolts on the kickstand mount - maybe in few other places as well. That's a nice feature when it comes time to replace parts after a year or two of riding in wet conditions.Other than the frame fit and rack issue, the bike is made well and rides nice. I took it on a six mile ride the first day using nothing but the throttle on a fully charged battery. The bike had no problems keeping a steady 20mph pace. Even uphill. The ride was a mix of 15-20% grades, which I'm usually breaking a sweat over, but both motor and battery were up to the task. The removable battery is nice for commuting since I don't need to bring the entire bike into the office with me to charge it. The mechanical disc brakes have no problem stopping the bike. Hydraulic are super nice, but I don't see it as a necessity for this bike. I would have opted for them if they would have been available however simply out of preference.I looked over the e-bikes at local retailers before making this purchase. The quality and features of the R1 are on par, if not better, than the $2500 bikes I looked at. The sub $2k bikes were mostly 300W-500W motors, had no front shock, exposed cabling/wiring, non-removable batteries, no fenders and regular 26" tires. The fat tires help to smooth out the bumps on crummy roadways and a little extra surface contact for traction.Since I'm using it for commuting I've picked up Velosurance for theft coverage since the big white letter tires and shiny stickers really attract a lot of attention.

Faulty fork bearing assembly **UPDATED** Great Support Experience
Purchased two of these bikes one step through and on step over. The step through has a manufacture defect with faulty fork collar bearings and top cap. I have asked Snapcycle for a complete replacement of the bike so we will see how the customer service is on a brand new unit. Posted this so potential buyers are aware of possible issues with this model. Will update my review once I see how Snapcycle support handles this issue. Great looking bike other than it cannot be ridden. Giving this a generous 2 stars given one of the two bikes I purchased works.**Update** Based on my experience with SnapCycle's customer service I have changed my review to 5 stars. I reached out to SnapCycle Support in regards to the issue with my R1 step through. SnapCycle contacted me within a day to assist with my issue and offered two options. I was offered two options and given I was fairly close to their warehouse. I was able to take the bike to their location and my bike was swapped with a brand new R1. Sam who assisted was very professional, understanding and said if I had any issues or questions not to hesitate to contact him. Was also offered a small credit and cargo bag for my trouble in driving the bike to exchange it. Have to say I am impressed with level of service I received and would not hesitate to purchase from them again. Great job SnapCycle and the new replacement bike is great.

Overall, A really Great Bike
Fit and finish were great except the luggage rack required tweaking on the two vertical struts and a slight clearance notch cut in one of them. Front suspension adjustments were rather understated. Would also be nice if assembly and owners manuals were in the box rather than being sent via email.Performance was impressive with a rather sensitive throttle. All the controls were right at your fingertips.

2022 Upgraded model review bought direct from Snapcycle - mostly great ebike with one caveat
I ordered the Snapcyce R1 step-through ebike (2022 upgraded version) directly from Snapcycle in mid March of 2022 and received it the last week of March 2022. The newer version has hydraulic instead of mechanical disc brakes and is geared for 7 speeds instead of 6 speeds. Snapcycle has made (the 2022 version at least) so you can upgrade its pedal assist settings to support up to 28 mph pedal assist (class 3 settings) instead of the 20 mph max (class 2 settings) it ships with. There is however one caveat to doing this: once you update the assist setting, the manual gearing is geared too low to allow for pedaling with any resistance at the top speed of 28 mph. Since I have the 2022 version not the previous version I don't know if this is also the case for the earlier version. Overall I am very happy with the e-bike and have put several hundred miles on it. Last week I upgraded the rear gear cluster (14T - 28T) with another cluster that has 11T - 28T and this remedied the problem and now allows me to contribute human power to the locomotion even while travelling at the top assist speed of 28 mph. Great e-bike, the 4 star rating instead of 5 stars is for Snapcycle's failure to re-engineer the manual drive train to provide for human assist at 28 mph!
