I had purchased one of this for my daughter's cotbed (different size), so when I needed to buy one for my son's cot, I looked around for the best price. Amazon had a great offer, so I didn't think about it twice. Babies should sleep on their back on a firm mattress, ideally sprung mattress, as they would sink on a memory foam and make it extra difficult to move if they are sick or unwell. I have always had memory foam mattresses for myself and I thought it would be best for babies, but the advice from the midwife and some online websites said otherwise: better firm and sprung, so it supports the weight and they can move and roll when the time comes. Obviously, this would not be an issue for a moses or a crib, as they are too young to roll anyway, but if you are going to have them on the cot beyond 3-5 months, then it's better this kind of mattress to ensure they can roll and develop the skill without getting stuck. I like that the cover is wipeable. My little girl was sick a couple of times on hers and I took the mattress to the bath (it's not heavy), I put a bit of her night time bath foam on a sponge with some water and cleaned the whole surface. I let it dry once on its own and used the hairdryer the second time, and the mattress was clean and smell lovely. You can just wipe on the spot, if needed, I just wanted to extra clean it. My daughter is 30 months and she has used that mattress for about 27 months, the surface is clean and there are no stains, despite some nappy leaks (wee) and lots of milk spillage. My son hasn't used his mattress yet, as he sleeps on the Sleepyhead on top, but I'm sure it will last for as long as the other one, as it's the same product. The firmness is adequate for babies / toddlers, if an adult leans on it, it sinks considerably, but my daughter tried it by jumping on it and it goes back to where it should be!
