Fab Habitat Rugs

I went back and forth for a few minutes about whether to rate 4 or 5 stars. I ended up with 5 because these (I bought two) rugs are PRECISELY what I wanted for the balcony off of my kitchen. They arrived on time, in excellent condition, and in rather beautiful jute packaging, and they have held up for two months without any fading or deterioration. My new home is contemporary, and there is a long, narrow deck (balcony, actually) off of the kitchen. Both the kitchen and adjacent dining room have full walls of glass overlooking this balcony. Now, our house sat empty and unloved for over two years before we bought it, so we've got some exterior work to do, including replacing the deteriorating balcony. It is wood, and it is rotting/peeling/etc. Luckily, the railings are wood with aluminum and look fine. We're replacing our entire roof and many skylights in a VERY expensive project this summer, so the deck will have to wait. In the meantime, how do I enjoy my beautiful ocean view (okay, peek-a-boo view!) and gorgeous green landscape with rotting grey deck boards assaulting my eyes? The answer: these plastic rug/mats. I must add that my kitchen is very neutral, which is great (after our first home had a 1950's pink & aqua monstrosity of a kitchen) but kind of gets me down. I'm a deep, jewel-tone, color-everywhere kind of person. I've added a bunch of dark purple, mustard yellow & deep red accents, which help a lot with bringing the white-washed oak and white/black tile in line with my tastes, but seeing the deep purple and white Tangier-Plum & White rug through all that glass has made a big impact on my boring kitchen. I like these mats so much that I might buy a third to use under the kitchen table on the INSIDE! Yes, I totally agree that these are more of an outside rug product, but my children are messy little punks, and a rug I can hose off appeals to me a whole lot more than any fine Persian rug would at this stage of our family life. It is absolutely true that these are fairly lightweight. In our (coastal New England) climate, it is vital to have heavy object sitting somewhere on the rug to prevent it from blowing away when thunderstorms pass through. Since we have a couple of flower pots, an umbrella (in a heavy stand) and a table with chairs, this was a trivial problem for our situation. The best part about these rugs is how deep and intense the purple color is. I am NOT a lavender lady; I'm a Purple Person! This is exactly the shade that I hoped these rugs would be. Could they be cheaper and make me more happy? Yes, that would be great! However, I feel that I got exactly what I paid for, and I don't regret the purchase or the purchase price.

We use the rug on our screened porch and it looks beautiful with our outdoor furniture and accessories. We especially like that it is light weight, easy to wipe clean, and it does not mildew. It is well constructed and worth the money.
