No X-Men or Jurassic Park Toys
Bought this book because it was so cheap. Wasn't too worried about the prices being current. It still works as a checklist and gives you an idea if which ones are more desirable than others. Unfortunately it didn't include some action figure lines I collect like Toy Biz X-Men and Jurassic Park. And the book is actually still to big to fit in your pocket. The information is not really packed in like most price guides. There may only be 20 figures per page. Also it's not very much of picture reference. The pictures are randomly placed, sometimes not even in the right sections. I had higher hopes.

Warman's action figure field guide
I needed a book about action figures that I have purchased and "Warman's action figures field guide" has helped me identify dolls that I have. Glad I purchased it.

An incredibly useful guide that fits in your back pocket...
As the author of this book, I feel compelled to address some questions I've received about Warman's Action Figures Field Guide from collectors at conventions--and while bumping into them at collectible and secondary shops across the country.Although this book was released YEARS ago (in September of 2006), the alphabetical lists of the toys included within this book (albeit NOT the prices...)--from "A" (Angel, Moore Action Collectibles) to "W" (World's Greatest Super Pirates, Mego)--are STILL GERMANE and RELEVANT when scouring bins, boxes, and tables at flea markets or garage sales. Although this book is by NO means a definitive guide to action figures--and does not claim to be--for a few bucks, the casual fan will be provided with an excellent overview of the hobby from 1964 (with the advent of the 12" G.I. Joe toy; the action figure that started it all!) to the present (which, at the time was 2006).Think of this book as--essentially--a rough overview and initiation into the world of action figure collecting for the novice collector. However, I MUST remind you that for the "Big Four" toy lines (Star Wars [both vintage and modern], G.I. Joe [both 3 3/4" and 12"], Transformers, and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), the prices listed in this book have risen DRASTICALLY because of the recent success of these properties, due in large part to a few VERY successful movie tie-ins (Star Wars: The Clone Wars film [2008] and television program [2008-present], Transformers [2007], Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen [2009], and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra [2009]).Apart from the prices, this is a VERY useful book for the uninitiated; good stocking stuffer, too...-- Mark Bellomo
