I bought this gem of a camera (Foscam R5) as an addition to four other Foscams I’ve been using for several years.The high quality of vision and features on the R5 (Micro SD slot/pan-tilting panoramic /two-way speaker/night vision/ remote alarm) makes me ask the question: “Why would anyone with a modem who leaves their house NOT want this camera for under $30.00?(I would buy this R5 Foscam just to watch myself as a reminder to keep on my diet! 😊)The installation should take less than two minutes. It’s very easy and you’re guided through each step.BEYOND exceptional customer service: A short synopsis…I ran into an issue that was MY fault, not Foscams’. I sent a series of five emails to customer service. Each email was personally answered within the hour by Mandy in customer service. (Note: I’m a night owl, so there is a time difference of about 13 hours ahead for CST.) Each email from Mandy was highly courteous, personable, explained every aspect of the R5 camera and the steps of installation. I finally noticed (through Mandy’s patience) I was entering my modem key incorrectly. Duh.)A great value, a wonderful camera and par excellence in customer service. One couldn’t ask for more.Note: Camera lens is tilted up to show Micro SD Slot and Reset button.

I have a couple of other Foscam products so I had fairly high expectations for this Model R5.I was looking for a full featured camera to replace a Reolink E1 featureless camera to monitor 'Amazon Key' deliveries inside my garage.I opened the small and well packaged box and plugged in the camera. Followed the enclosed step by step instructions to connect to the WIFI, generated the QR code and easily scanned it to the camera. Process from closed box to connected was 4 minutes and 18 secs. I already had the Foscam app and an account so just scanned my network for new devices and instantly found the new camera.The first thing I noticed - off the bat - was the absolutely clear and near perfect image from the camera. I decided to mount the camera first and set it up after. I screwed the round base plate included to the plastic light cover of my garage door opener. twisted the camera onto the mount and plugged it in. This process took about honestly 15 or so minutes.Using the app, I modified some of the basic settings available - in the app. I also unplugged the camera and added a 64GB SD card, formatted it, and changed the recording setting to continuously record as well as record any alarms. I decided not to even use the 30 day free trial for cloud recording and keep everything local. This whole setup process including installing the SD card took about 20 minutes.Now I came back to the computer and tried to access the camera by IP address but Foscam has decided to not allow this type of access...so I had to download their PC software (FoscamVMS) and the plugin. Installed both and logged into the program. From here I could change the more advanced settings like adding an email alert and copying alarm recordings to my ftp server (ok...not everything is local)...And since this camera supports rtsp (wahoo!), I was able to add the camera to my Angelcam account.So about an hour after opening the box - everything was complete, including push notifications, email photos of events, ftp transfer of video, continuous recording to the SD card and installation. I have an expectation that using the on camera human detection algorithm I will also not et 15 alarms a night every time a moth flies around in my garage, but I have not tested that out yet.So a recap.$37 buys you a 5MP camera with an incredible resolution that supports rtsp, ONVIF, P2P, email, ftp, app, cloud, and PC monitoring. Also an almost unlimited choice of mounting as the app can flip the image both horizontal and vertical (in case you want to mount the camera on a wall). All in all, that is almost amazing. Addendum to review - Had a quick power outage and the camera won't boot back up. Returning and changing from 4 stars to 1.Original Review...Longtime Foscam user here (over a decade) and I've owned 15, with 11 hooked up right now (both indoor and outdoor, all wireless) to my Netgear Nighthawk. I have 5 hooked up outdoors and 6 indoors. Why so many indoor cams? My girlfriend is a caregiver to an older stroke victim with aphasia who tends to get into trouble whenever he thinks nobody is watching. So if something negative happens, we can access the cams and find out what happened, when and where. His area of expertise is throwing away clothes and other valuables in the trash, so we can go in behind him and pull everything back out. He has no idea his moves are watched, but it's out of necessity we do it. We've saved hundreds of dollars as he tends to throw away expensive things. His brain has been rewired like that due to the strokes, so it just comes with the territory.This camera was to replace my older Foscam in the kitchen that was starting to act up. I love the new compact size and weight, but setting it up was a little harder than it should have been. I couldn't get my phone to scan the bar code without more effort than it should have taken. I've done this many times before, so I quickly ruled out user error. But I finally got it to connect.It's a Foscam, so I had high expectations right off the bat and it didn't disappoint. The pan and tilt was very responsive even though it's 3 rooms away and the picture quality was good. I don't mind the auto-switch to night vision, but I do have one semi-substantial gripe. I cannot adjust the aspect ratio to take up the full screen on my monitor. There are black bars running down both the left and right sides of the video feed and no way to make them disappear. This is the first Foscam I've ever owned that didn't have that ability. It's not quite aggravating enough to return, but close. In fact, if I experience what some of the other reviewers here have reported on about losing connection and having to hard reset the unit, it will definitely be a deal breaker and I'll return it.Otherwise, I'm semi-happy with the purchase.

Super fun! Going on vacation and was nervous but this helped me watch my cats! Works well kinda simple set up, great deal!
