Elementals Academy: The Discovery of Magic

Elves, witches, and Gods oh my…….kind of series!
This series is packed with everything a fantasy lover would want to read. It’s very original and crafted for people who love reading fantasy for the simple reason that it’s nothing like the real world. It’s a world created to capture your attention and makes you never want to put the book down. This series was written so much better than the first series. You can tell Madow is coming into herself as a fantastic story teller! There was more depth to the characters and usually I’m able to predict what is going to happen in most YA series I read. I honesty had no idea what would happen or what the characters would face throughout this whole series. There was alot of “whattttttt” moments for me that made me devour this series in three days. The ending of the series was refreshing because after some books I read they leave me cringing and wanting to yell and throw the book across the room in disgust. Finishing this series just made me feel so content and the need to go read her Vampire series now. This series has so many twists and turns in it and it was just overall a fun, easy and relaxing book to read. Not relaxing in ways that it wasn’t suspenseful at times because I didn’t know what would happen next, but just that it didn’t have horrific things in it, like physical, emotional or mental abuse. Maas is a great writer (very popular) but has a tendency to put that content in all her series that makes me cringe not wanting to read anything else she writes. There is so much unhappiness and stupid crap in the world that I choose not to want to read it in my fantasy books. I read fantasy, because it’s not real. I want to get away from the struggles of life that we can go though. So finding an author who seems to be just a happy person herself, because it portrays in her writing, it is so refreshing and just fun to read. I applaud her for not being like those cookie cutter horrific, miserable, tragedy writing authors out there. Those authors are popular popular so I guess most people like reading about other people in misery, but I do not.Readers like me definitely need more of Madow. Who enjoy fantasy because it takes you to a better magical place than where you might be.Thank you M. Madow for creating a world I can engulf myself in and with such detail that I feel like there, behind the scenes, watching everything unfold.

Good
WARNING! Mild cliffhanger! This one rates about a 3/5 on the trauma scale (where 5 is MC life in danger trauma, and 1 is no cliffhanger). In this instance we have an event with an as yet unknown result and some questions leaving us hanging.Summer discovers magic to be real, at the instant she uses it against a bully… the revelation sends her off to a new university, one where descendants of the Greek gods study magic and it’s uses.Thought to be an air elemental, Summer is placed within the air dorms, and set to learn her magic, struggling both to fit in and use it.It’s only when she catches the eye of the mysterious Zane, that she finds herself questioning everything…An enjoyable academy fantasy tale, this is a university level series, with a romance featuring just one man, and plenty of mysteries and unanswered questions. It’s an enjoyable read, and an intriguing start to a series that holds some unusual plot twists.A fun read for academy fantasy and urban fantasy fans.

Elemental Academy: The Discovery of Magic
This was a really good story. It was a good romantic, magical, mystery combination. I don't really like books with cliffhangers, but this wasn't too bad. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

I had my reservations
Madow writes some of my favorite past times so I picked this book up. A little irritating but also fun and it’s like a mix of Percy Jackson and Academy reads, but I saw a mention of PJ in one of the quoted reviews so now I’ll never know if I made the connection on my own. It didn’t exactly come OFF as a Percy read so there’s that, at least. The beginning was amazing. Then drama and mysteries started being relevant and it got irritating. For me, I can’t stand it when people don’t really have a good reason to not share something and the main protagonist doesn’t do anything about it. Doesn’t question it, or at least acknowledge how weird it is to not be linked in. Rarely did she make the excuse that they were just students who weren’t privy to staff matters. Then there’s her romance with the dude. I thought her excuses to keep him around were weak, and I’d have had more fun if she were different, but I can appreciate the type of person she is, instead, so I can move on.More could’ve happened but it wasn’t a bad start. I didn’t make any connections until things were pretty much hand fed to me but I adore the Greek gods so I’m okay with going into the next book.

So far so good
This story was so good. This is a new to me author and I gave her a try after I read some of the reviews. I can say I am pleasantly surprised by some things and some things are just to predictable. I gave this book a four because of the beginning. I didn’t care how she was introduced to her magic or the world where everything is colliding together. On to book two which will be a deciding factor in me continuing this series.

Love the twists
Summer is a multilayered character that is brave, funny, clumsy, and curious. The dialogue that she has with herself and the people around her is funny and keeps the story interesting. Her love interest, Zane, is intriguing right from the beginning. All of her friends are multifaceted. Recommend this book

excellent series
Really grabs attention and doesn't let go, but has a comfortable Buffy or it's ilk vibe that really allows the characters to take up space and come into their own. The action is well.paced, starts well and continues to build, giving gradual plateaus where our heroes regroup and lick their wounds, etc. There is a great engagement with mythologies, both Greek and Norse, but by allowing the ancient deities and creatures a relatable tongue to speak in, it is a story that will speak to many, especially YA readers and fans of the modern mythologies, such as Buffy, Angel, Twilight, etc.

Great start another amazing series
I first read Michelle Madows series The Elementals and since then I have been hooked on her books. This book is the perfect start to a new series with old characters I have grown to love in previous series. The characters are just as lovable and stubborn and it's great to see what has happened in this universe since the last book in previous series. Love how not only is it Greek mythology but now there bringing in Norse mythology in as well. I'm excited to read the next one
