I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child [Vinyl]

I happen to like all of the Manchester Orchestra albums, but this one is higher on the list than a few of the newest. I would recommend that anyone enjoying this band grab this, Simple Math and Mean Everything... These albums all have a lot of heart.

I heard "Wolves at Night" on XM and bought this CD purely on the strength of that song (and after listening to only three other samples on Amazon). 25 plays later and I still can't get enough of it (my partner is threatening divorce). A close second favorite is "I Can Barely Breathe," and I'm sure more will join that category after a few more listens. The comparison to Conor Oberst above is spot on: Andy Hull has his quiet introspection, along with the plaintive angst of Robert Smith, mixed with occasional angry, blaring synth riffs that are downright addictive. This won't be leaving my playlist for a long time to come.

New fan of Manchester Orchestra. 5 or 6 outstanding tracks if melancholia is your thing, and the rest work, smart lyrics, soulful execution. Can hear influences of Bright Eyes/Connor Oberst and Modest Mouse, but more electric guitar driven.

I can't believe I got such a great deal on this CD. This is a very awesome CD, different from any of ManO's new stuff, kind of gloomy and catchy at the same time.

The CD is fantastic. Amazing lyrics, amazing instrumentals, and Andy Hull's voice is magnetic. Definitely a must for anyone who likes the band. However, the shipping was less than satisfactory. The inside of the case was broken; the little circle that holds the CD in place was smashed and the case had a crack in it. I was extremely upset with the way the CD was mailed to me.

My son introduced me to these guys. Simple Math is still my favourite album but this is excellent too! A great blend of heartfelt ballad and powerful slightly grungy rock.

Top tunes. It's a no brainer, ust buy it.
