Tarot of the Divine Handbook: A Guide to Understanding Tarot Symbolism

Hello all, The Tarot of the Divine Handbook Journal by Yoshi Yoshitani 2022, First Edition, is a finely illustrated hardcover handbook journal published by Clarkson Potter, a division of Random House Books. The accompanying Tarot deck of the Tarot of the Divine of fairy tales from around the world is sold separately. The Tarot deck cards are beautifully displayed on the Major Arcana, being a delight to marvel at in their fairy tale symbology with bright colors and excellent paper stock of the cards. If you're buying this Handbook to get extra in-depth interpretations of the cards, don't bother. The guidebook that comes with the Tarot deck of cards will suffice. This Hardcover Journal Handbook is for the extra bells and whistles that the author Yoshi Yoshitani has placed therein. The beginning chapter has general Tarot reference material on a universal basis that many other tarot how-to books may cover with more in-depth material. The final concluding chapter of this handbook has excellent suggestions for additional tarot card spreads, including a template sheet to copy off the handbook to utilize with your future card spreads. All the 78 Tarot card interpretations are always found on the left-hand page of the handbook. The Journal aspect offers one blank page on the right-hand side. The handbook has no page numbers whatsoever. If I had to guess, the Handbook Journal is 200+ plus pages overall. The left-hand page has a fully illustrated tarot card, much like in the tarot guidebook. However, here, there are 5 bullet points vertically next to the right side of each card image with an additional minor paragraph with poignant questions to inquire about your card. Also, on the card Image, there is a circle chat bubble with the origin of the fairy tale from around the globe. The 5 bullet points are concise and very to the point, as a matter of fact, making you think profoundly about the meaning of your card spreads. However, the tarot deck guidebook has additional information that is more elaborate than this handbook, in my opinion. The hardcover journal handbook has dropped from its original suggested retail price back in 2022 when it was first published. So, if you have the interest, this is an excellent accompaniment to the tarot deck as originally intended by the author.

Very nice guide book, informative for beginning tarot readers. A very simple guide that walks the reader through the meanings of the major and minor arcana cards and simple breakdown of the Suits, number and court cards to help begin the journey of applying clarity and understanding to a reading. The size of the book is perfect, making it easier to read. The book provides sample spreads and journaling ideas. The symbolism in the cards are well explained and the deck looks like it’s going to be beautiful and I am eagerly awaiting the deck to be delivered, I can’t wait!

Adore the entire set by this author/artist! I've the tarot set with book as well! The artwork in this book is printed as a full page print with the tales on the opposite page. The stories are cute but extremely short! Some of the fairy tales I know well but a lot is ommited to keep the artwork & stories in format. All in all its a sweet read! I read 1 or 2 tales at a time when I don't have the time to sink my head into a 600pg novel! I luv reading the stories from other cultures! We had a huge book of Aesop's Fables when I was a small child and I read it often. Its great to learn a bit about the stories that have shaped young minds in places all over the world. Each tale & artwork pertains to a specific tarot card. Nice!!!!

I'm just starting out in tarot, and this book offers understandable explanations for how to begin and grow your tarot journey. It has journal space for each card, so you can look back on your intuitive growth as you study and learn, and the art work is breathtaking. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, amateur or professional, for the myriad of features and ease of understanding.

The notebook is a dot grid notebook that offers a breakdown and explanation of each card, along with reflection questions, and a blank page to record your thoughts and insights. It’s interesting to see why the artist, Yoshi Yoshitani, chose the stories/fairytales and imagery that she did and how she applied it to tarot cards with the symbolism that is provided for each card. My only gripe with the book is that there isn’t a blank page, or chapter page so to speak, for each of the four suits. I, personally, as a beginner to tarot, would have liked a page for every suit to write my personal thoughts and insights on the general meanings of each suit. There is a quick little summary of the suits at the beginning of the book, but I think it would have been better placed before every suit as an introduction chapter page to each of the minor arcana suits. Overall a great handbook that will only help me to grow my knowledge as a beginner tarot reader!

I love the deck. It comes with a small park inside the deck package, but the bonus is the actual hard cover book genius idea.!

I highly recommend getting this book with the Tarot of the Divine cards. This is my favorite tarot cards hands down. They are beautifully illustrated, and the book goes deeper into the meaning of the interpretation of the card is.

Did I need this? No. Did I buy it ? Yes. Do I love it? Also yes! It is a great addition to the Tarot-deck which deep dives into the images of each card and how it represents. Also room for writing on the pages, for example, when you drew said card and such.
